decades ago it was BetaMax or VCR - now it's DVR whatever, they're the race watcher's very best friends separate from great, live SuperCross & MotoCross coverage, most M/C road race & flat track broadcasts are tape-delayed anyway since they're not "live", record & then watch [& rewatch?] at your leisure & convenience |

Josh Hayes on EBR's bikes & riders [edited]: "The EBRs are doing a good job, honestly," Hayes said. "They are just outgunned at a track like Road America. They don't have a chance. They were faster than Blake in the tighter parts of the racetrack all weekend, but there's three top-gear straightaways. We'll find out. At Infineon, they were competitive. At Miller, they were more competitive than anybody thought they'd be. We'll have to see where they are when we show up at Barber. They might really be singing good at Barber -- same thing at Laguna. We won't know until we get there. "Same thing with the KTMs. I think (Chris) Fillmore is actually riding the KTM pretty well. I've been impressed with the guy. But the poor guy is, for me, a moving roadblock going down the straight. It's an unfortunate part of what it is. Until they get more money behind their effort -- which, I don't know if they need results for that to happen -- it kind of is, what it is. But it will bring him along as a rider. And you know what, if he keeps sticking his neck out on the line like that -- it's kind of the same thing -- you make a mistake but then you get away with it and you start riding at that level, and when we get to some tracks that will suit him well, watch out. He might be really dangerous." While the EBRs and, to a lesser extent, the KTMs have been positive stories in the AMA Superbike field this season, it's hard to argue that they've been helped along by the relative struggles of their rivals. While EBR pilots and Danny Eslick and Geoff May have both finished on the podium, they are still a long way from threatening Hayes……. …..Asked if there was another Josh Hayes out there just waiting for the proper opportunity, Hayes said, "…..I think Geoff May, maybe a little bit. The only thing that has been different is Geoff needed Danny to come in to help him figure out how to take the bike to another level. It wasn't even a matter of changing the bike as it was Danny being willing to push his luck a little bit to see what he could get away with. Geoff talked about that -- to see Danny do something he said, 'oh, I guess you can do that' and then go out there and do it....." http://moto-racing.speedtv.com/article/ama-sbk-app raised-by-hayes/P1 |
