Just wanted to say hello. This past weekend I purchased #696 1995 S2 from the original (female) owner. The bike is all original as far as I can tell and needs a few things (speedo/mileage not working and leaking right fork) but seems to run great. And its pretty dirty. Heres a couple shots when I brought it home. Other than some Mothers mag cleaner, whats the best way to get those water spotted aluminum rims cleaned up?

SWEET! Mother's has always done a good job on basic aluminum maintenance for me and I think the Nevr-Dull wadding polish stuff might be a little more aggressive and faster at removing worse oxidation. |

Wenol aluminum polish. Hard to find, but worth it; I was amazed. Google it to see where to buy. Was awesome back when I had polished alum wheels on my 4x4 truck. I plan to put PM wheels like yours on my S3T asap and that's what I'll use on mine to get any oxidation off and bring them back. |

NICE! Welcome! I'm glad you didn't say S2 #666...as I've had some plans for it - if it ever surfaces again and I have the bankroll for it when that happens... I know it was Ice White Pearl and originally it went somewhere in Indiana, 1313 |

Nice find! I dont\'t have any PM (shiny) wheels, but if I did, I might try a couple of products to shine them up: 1. Autosol (It's a chrome polisher, but worth a try); 2. Brasso. Yep. gives a great shine to oil tanks - worth trying also on the rims. Obviously, do a test patch, to be sure they don't get messed up! |

I feel it is worth noting that the FSM (for the X1, same wheels) states that to clean and polish the PM wheels, you should use Mothers Aluminum Polish. |

Pounce on those wheels - you can sell on the PM's for similar money, I'd bet. |

Dang it, you guys are already trying to get me in trouble. That is a great price....hmmmm. I probably should see how much the leaking right side fork is going to cost me to fix before I spend any on wheels. Hopefully the old plastic/film trick will work. Then again, I probably could make back close to what I spend. |

You should collect and hoard parts like wheels. It would be a good thing to have a spare set. |

My previous comment about very good- I was referring to your new bike. The wheels are a good deal also though. |

Gorgeous bike!!!! I like Simichrome for the tougher spots. Mother's is nice for maintenance but doesn't seem to cut through the grunge as well. The Mother's polish balls do speed things up on the flat areas, though. |

Thanks guys! Another question for you guys. I noticed that when I was riding it and hit a bump in the road I could hear a little "chatter" from the front end. I assume the pins and/or pads need replaced. Come to think of it, the rotor is looking pretty nasty too. Im sure its original. The bike 8200 miles. |

I don't know if it is the same thing. However, on my bike the holes that the pins go through on the brake pads is a little over sized. Every time I hit a bump while going slow, you can hear the pads "rattling" around on the pins. Nice bike by the way! Welcome to the sickness...![](http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/clipart/bigwink.gif) |

I bought an S1W with a rattly original rotor, and bit the bullet: bought an EBC rotor from American Sport Bike. Nice. There was no ambiguity about the rattles, though: definitely the rotor mounts. There are threads on here about how to set up an original with new curved washers, etc, to tighten it back up, if it's your rotor and you care to go that route. |

The rotor likely looks nasty because it is iron, and will rust. I have replaced mine with a late model stainless one, but I am keeping the original. I'm pretty sure you can't get new ones. They were made in house by Buell. |

right, the chatter is from the front rotor. replace it with the newer one. check the spacing between the caliper when you do, i had to shim mine with paper thin spacer. if the speedo /odo doesnt work, check the speedo gear located on your wheel that the speedo cable goes into, or the cable itself... if your turn signals dont go off after a few blinks, its the speedo gear or the cable... its mechanical. |
