Anyone done an R to CR drivetrain conversion to get better bottom in pull? if so what did you change?

A belt and a pulley would be a start. The CR pulley have 4 more teeth.

The swingarm is a different length as I recall

there's a lot of parts involved

You will need a bigger belt tensioner

Its not that simple. Do a search, its been covered a lot. I know it needs a swingarm and the ecm to get the speedo right

I was thinking the swing arm was longer as well? Does anyone have a CR they can measure fore me?

Swingarm is 5mm longer on the CR, to compensate for shorter gearing.

Am i right?

That's my recollection.

I think you have the option a custom pulley, or change out the swingarm and use the stock CR pulley

IDK, that's my recall, check back threads on it.

During the off-season I made a list of all of the parts needed for the CR gearing conversion. I even put together a spreadsheet with all of the parts costs. The price wasn't so bad ... I seem to remember that you could get the rear-end hardware done for maybe $1000 retail. That price doesn't include ECM reprogramming.

that's not too much $$$ compared to the retail price, but lots of $$$ compared to what used bikes are selling for.

I've also thought about going all-in and just buying a chain setup.

I have a custom pulley that I used on my 1125R with CR gearing and CR belt. All I have left is the pulley for the tensioner.

Crmike i think u r wrong. CR swingy is shorter
it's all about the geometry and keeping the belt tight

Ok. I could be wrong but i recall reading in an online review it was longer. A longer swingarm and larger rear sprocket/pulley would keep a belt tighter anyways, in theory, but theres a built in tensioner in all 1125cr and r models anyway, to keep the belt properly tensioned at all times...

Can anyone who has actually done this tell me if that list of hardware that I posted is complete? I'm thinking that it still needs the CR pulley (don't know the part number offhand). Aside from the CR pulley, I think I've got all the necessary parts on the list.

Thanks!

Yes the list is correct. The only thing missing is the ECM, which all i did was order a E B R ECM for a CR. I have done the conversion and love it! I did it with mostly all eBay parts. It took about 3-4 hours and I think I could do it a lot less time now.

Now this is funny -- I thought my list was wrong, so I went to the manual to look up part numbers, and it tells me that the R and CR use the same idler pulley. That would mean that the list is correct, and that you don't need to replace the idler pulley. But people seem to be doing it.

FYI, here's the info from the 2009 parts manual, pages 48-49:

Index # 14, G0614.02A8D, Wheel, Idler Pulley, HL/YL.

I did what your talking about on my 2008 1125R. I put the CR rear sprocket on with the CR belt with the custom made pulley and it worked out perfect. I didn't change anything else. I took it off before I traded in the 1125R last year. Sold the rear sprocket and belt but still have custom pulley if your interested.

i did the whole swap, and am thinking i could have gotten off alot cheaper going with the larger idler pulley.

now what the hell do i do with an 1125 R swingy in my attic !?!?!
