I got a used 2002 Blast from a buddy. It has a CA salvage title , and says the odometer is "not actual miles". My buddy got it from someone else and has no real background info on it. The bike was a mess. I just put new tires on it , new battery , Dan's carb boot and intake , installed exhaust head pipe gasket (my buddy was driving it without one), Welded broken exhaust mount (it looks like its a sportster exhaust) and changed fluids. It runs pretty good but SOMETIMES at around 70 - 75 it bogs down then goes back to running good , completely at random. any ideas? |

Does it still have CA only charcoal canister? My guess is no, it's a beer can sized black canister under the rear seat/fender. You'll need to make sure that's disconnected properly. After that it sounds like an ignition module going bad, but in such bad shape you need to make sure everything else is good first. Pictures? |

Just a picture or two to get an idea of how badly your blast has been butchered. Module is available from our sponsors or a Buell/HD dealer. pt# 32687-00Y |

Or 32687-00YA But I have a cross reference that lists a new part number as Y0459.11A7 So you run into any one of the 3. (Message edited by Gearheaderiko on June 04, 2012) |

Does it still have the EPA canister? That will cause all kinds of problems (still could be the module, but thats usually the part of last resort-after you've pulled out all your hair!). |

Got home from work (verry hot day in Phoenix), turned the bike off , went inside a minute tried to start the bike again and i had nothing. I turned the key back off , tried again and this time it backfired and shot the carb off...hopefully the ignition module fixes this... |

Got the ignition module in. Seems to be running better but only had about 15 miles on the new install. The old ignition module looks melted... not sure if thats typical. One new problem (maybe), seems like its kinda falling on its face a little when starting from a dead stop , sometimes... might just be me , but who knows. |

Check the jetting. Recheck the timing. If you're running a non stock sportster pipe you'll probably need jetting thats different from stock. |
