My Uly has been making loud grinding noises in the front, so I decided to take the brake pads out for inspection. What do you guys think, is it time to throw something else in?

looks good. might want to even up the wear between the two sides with an angle grinder though. |

You've never heard of metallic pads? |

You were just resurfacing the rotor to get rid of the pulsing before a new set of pads. |

Too bad you can't borrow a set of pads from one of your 1125's and put them on your good bike..... |

Just switch sides and the wear will even out. |

I actually will be doing that soon. I had a pair of old partly used Lyndal 6 pot pads from my XB years ago, and once I use those up I'll be putting ZTL2 on to match everything else (except the Blast). I can't stand the stock ZTL setup, the 8 piston setup is that much of an improvement. |

Toss the front fender and mirrors along with the pads and call it a chopper. |

Froggy, IF you were going to use the stock caliper, what pads would you recommend? I am about due for a set on my 08 XT and need advice on what to install and where to buy. Thank you. |

Brake pads are like underwear, you are going to hear everyone's preference but it my not be comfortable for you. I like the stock pads and the Lyndal Golds. The golds will give you a more progressive feel, but the initial bite is lacking. |

...And when pushed hard, the Golds can fade to nothing without warning, right when you're burning into a hard left turn on a PA back road with a passenger. Or so I've heard. |

How many miles do you guys typically get out of the front pads? Just curious. |

The lyndalls do fade. Alex and I were both running them and noticing it on our last ride in the mountains. |

Maybe I should just go with stockers..anyone know what those cost? Where can I buy Lyndal Golds if I go that route? |

American Sport Bike is your one stop shop. Al carries most of the popular pad brands, except I don't see stock. http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/9059.html Stock pads are part number H0300.02A8 and are $65 from your favorite Buell dealer. Buewulf, this is my first time changing pads in 5 years of owning Buells, but the Uly was recently purchased so I assume they were pretty much worn out when I picked the bike up. Bike has 33k miles on it, probably original pads. My 1125's are at around 20k miles, those are on the original pads too. |

I've been running Golds too but you guys are correct, the initial bike sucks. On some really hard stops I have to use my whole hand instead of the usual 2 fingers. When they're gone I'm trying something else. |

From my experience EBC HH are really good a few friends run them on their 6 piston caliper and i do the same on my 8 piston, they brake good have never heard about them fading, and they have a reasonable life span. But as it's been said every one to their own taste, and the only way to go is try the ones you decide, and if they are not what suit you try different ones next time. |
