Hi, I hope someone here can help out. The brake lights are stuck on my 96 S2T. I disconnected the rear stoplight switch and that did not turn off the brake light. Where is the switch for the front brakes? Is it part of the MC or the switch gear, or neither? Thanks in advance! Adam |

Did you have the brake/running light wires apart before this happened? Cause if you connect them backwards the brake lights stay on. |

if you removed the right side handlebar controls for any reason, you may have jammed the switch when re-assembling it. The switch is tucked into the controls assembly, and is easy to engage when putting the controls back together on the handlebar. Just loosen your right side controls a little bit, and check your brake light, while wiggling the control assembly. DAMHIK Bart |

The brake master-cylinder assembly pushes against a spring-loaded pin coming out of the switchgear.Incorrect assembly can break that pin. You need to place the MC tight against the handlebar then slide it outward against the switch assembly (which pushes in the pin.) |

Thanks to Bartimus & Sportyeric! Your diagnosis was correct, and the problem is solved. Is there a way to change the subject of the post to "solved"? Adam |

Thank God for badweb. I had this same thing happen to me last night as I was putting the S2 back together. Had I not read this a few days ago, I'd be neck deep in my wiring harness pulling my hair out. |
