Ok...I'm goin to beat this horse again.

I would like some recomendations on oil and primary oil for my 02 X1. I used Harley oil last time and within a 500 miles the top end sounds noisy and the trans shifts like crap! I have used this oil on my old school bikes without a problem but don't like it in this bike...any suggestions?

I use Amsoil 20w50 in the crankcase and Formula+ in the primary.

111,354.8 miles as of the last ride ...

Use Harley-Davidson SYN 3 in engine and transmission ....

+1 on amsoil in engine and formula + in the primary.

Amsoil is probably about the same as Mobil 1 Vtwin or HD Syn 3, but not much more expensive, and they are supporting EBR.

If you're having shifting problems don't blame the oil, check clutch and cable adjustment.

These engines are noisy and each one has it's own unique valvetrain sound.

I've used HD, Amsoil, and Mobil 1 vtwin in several tube frame and XB Buells and have zero complaints about any of those oils.

No shifting "problems" just alot "clankier" after it warms up.

99cyclone:

Lest you forget the looser adjustments for the PRIMARY CHAIN and DRIVE BELT ...

Todsho:

20W50, change engine every 3K miles and transmission every 5K ...

Do the SEAFOAM(buy at Wal-Mart) treatment in the gas and oil and do the STP gas treatment every 5K miles will help on some of the engine noise...

Thanx Buellistic...I do use the Seafoam in my vehicles but have yet to do it to my Buell. Do you run it through your intake (like a regular vehicle) or just in gas and oil?

IMHO, it is too harsh on any engine to pour a liquid into the intake ...

If "i" was to do this it would be with a spray bottle that put out a mist ...
