Can't believe I'm about to do this, but just throwing a feeler out there and see if anyone bites. 2002 Buell Thunderbolt S3T. Around 22kmi (still riding it so this will change). Lots of good upgrades, please read everything and check the photos for condition. I got this bike in November of 2009 and have put roughly 12kmi on it. I just recently finished a top end rebuild on it because I had to remove the front head from the front mount bolt breaking. Long story, can get into it via PM if you want to hear it, but the bottom line is it was a rebuild out of opportunity, not because the bike was running poorly. Local machine shop honed the cylinders and the heads were sent to Cycle Rama to get reconditioned, so top notch work all around. Bike runs fantastic. Upgrades include: Brand new Pro-Series (Supertrapp) muffler Race ECM Gutted airbox American Sport Bike Billet front motor mount Updated front isolator with all new hardware Catch can and breather set-up Polished PM wheels Zero Gravity tall windshield Buell Heated grips (switch is in the factory controls) Custom fabricated rear luggage rack Fiberglass-reinfored saddlebags with additional mounting point to prevent stress cracks 55w HID bi-xenon headlight Bronze oil pump drive gear upgrade .030" head gaskets (slightly raises compression) Custom-wired accessory socket to turn off with ignition The paint has some scratches and dings (see photos). Minor bubbling on the tank but not bad at all. GPS and tailbag not included, but all of the "T" bags are there (fairing, underseat and saddlebag liners). Turn signal is broken from a garage drop, held together with tape and works fine, just not terribly pretty. Pie in the sky price, but why the hell not. Looking for $4800 OBO. Bike is located in Albany, NY. Fly in and ride it home, it goes cross-country very nicely - I've done it once and will again if it doesn't sell in a few months! Photos: NOS Pro-Series muffler, just installed the other week Catch can, billet motormount Fairing bags, Erik's signature from Homecoming 2010 Buell factory heated grips, switch is in the stock controls 55w HID bi-xenon headlight. MUCH improved over stock Custom luggage rack Saddlebag liners included Fiberglass re-inforced bags with 4th mounting point. Much stronger than stock. Tank bubbling (worst of it) Scratches in saddlebag (other side has some but not nearly as bad) Brand new rear tire (Pilot Road 2) Zero Gravity windscreen (also have stock if that's preferred) Dings in front fairing underseat bag and tie down straps

Do you have anything in mind to replace it when it sells? |

It's going to a very good home - tuber enthusiast for sure. I'm still not convinced I really want to sell it, but I've only every owned Sportsters and Buells and I wanted to try something different, and funds dictate that I'm a 1-bike household for at least a little while. Good news is I get one last mini-road trip on it to deliver it to the new owner this weekend. |

Bike is finally sold and with the new owner - first half of the trip down was kind of sad for me, second half reminded me why I decided to buy the Triumph, haha. The S3T is a GREAT bike, but the Triumph will fit what I need a little better. On another note, the new owner graciously allowed me to take his mint S1 out for a spin... I think I found my next bike... |

Bought the bike and very happy with it, have put a few local trips to work and chased the curves around the local back roads. Lots of fun, no buyers remorse! it fits in very well with the collection, it makes tuber #3 in the collection, an x1 I bought new in 99 and have built it up with the eurocomponents set up, an s1 I saved from someone's backyard and rebuilt (the one he rode) and now this s3. purchase was a great experience, we even blew the cobwebs off a few bikes in the garage after we traded title and cash. of everything we rode he still liked the s1 the best.... |

Good luck with your new bike. A friend of mine has a Sprint GT and I've ridden it several times. An excellent all-around bike. One of the very few non-Buell bikes I've ridden that has some character. |

I just spent all weekend on the Sprint up in the Adirondacks (see this thread: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/37/ 666388.html?1337610467 ) and I'm starting to bond well with the bike. David - hold off on digging into the primary on that S3 to update the clutch or fix that starter gasket - I have all of the gaskets you need for that and will try to drop them in the mail this week. |

thanks! what upgrade to the clutch are you referencing? I just spent the last 4 days on the streetglide riding in the royal gorge area. anyone local to DC, Maryland that wants an excellent bike trip....started at Front Royal to ride all of Skyline drive, (its northwest of me and I needed to go southwest...only a biker would get that!), connected straight into blue ridge Parkway, exited at 56 to steeles tavern then rode south to catch 64 to 60 (midland trail - scenic byway) and rode into Hico WV / Summersville area and stayed at "country Road Cabins", check them out, have stayed a few times, nice place and right in the middle of some great rides!.. took my girlfriend so needed the bigger bike, my buddy went and took his wife and we both were wishing we were on other bikes! that long in the twisties and wished I was on the s3! 1,000 miles of riding in 4 days and most of it on the twisties! |
