When I purchased my Blast, it had a D and D exhaust and sort of jetted carb. I finished jetting and added Dan's Superboot and Intake system. Still had issues with staying started and keep the Carb on the manifold (fart and blow right off). I have changed the Boot a few times and played with needle position and jets. Still no success. Recently I changed the whole carb out and put on a normal CV with manual choke and fuel pump (dont think its called a fuel pump). It starts and stays started, just seems like it takes forever to warm up. When you really crack the throttle, it bogs so bad. It almosts works normal if I leave the choke out a little while riding. Once in a while it'll still blow that carb right off the manifold. Where do I go next? The local Harley dealership wouldnt touch it, they said I wouldnt want to pay that much to get it fixed. I had a different local shop do the carb change over, but am waiting to see what you guys say before taking it back to them. |

If you're blowing the carb off, it's not on tight enough (especially if you're using the superboot). Disconnect the accelerator pump on the new carb as well as swapping out the slide spring for the one in the blast carb. It sounds as if you are still very lean whether due to an intake leak or bad jetting. The 'normal' cv carbs choke is VERY rich, so the fact that you can run your bike with it partially open tells there is a problem somewhere. What is the jetting? and welcome! |
