Has anyone tried METZELER MEZ4 Tires yet?? If so, did you like the way they handled? What kind of mileage did you get out of them? Thanks |

I have one in the garage, waiting to go on the Firebolt. I have heard nothing but good about them from other riders, mostly BMW owners. |

I just put a rear on my 2001 Ducati m750. The bike came stock with mez1's. I put the rear on cuz my girl friend rides the Duc a lot and I thought I'd put something on it that would last longer. She doesn't really push the bike that hard. I took the bike out after installing the tire and was scrapping stuff in the corners and the bike felt great. I looked at the tire after that morning romp and it wasn't even scuffed! Not sure I'd want a set on my XB9R, but I am very happy with this application. |

I have a set on my BMW R1100RA... I bought them under the impression from the BMW shop that they were more of a sport/touring tire... decent adhesion with longer mileage service... I have to agree with Cubby, they might be a bit too hard. A buddy of mine (Shazam) who pushes the edge on every ride... has switched to Pilot Sports... he told me... those are the tires I want next. He scrapes the little tits under the foot pegs... he does dramatic lean angles... and has done well doing battletrax... so I have confidence in what he says... for whatever this is worth on this thread |

MCN just tested the Metzeler Roadtec Z6 sport touring tire. The replacement for the MEZ4. It is supposed to have 20% better dry grip and handling and 30% better wet grip and handling. With the same mileage claims. It comes in two different constructions. One for bikes under 530lbs and one for bikes over 530lbs. They put a set on a Aprilia Mille R, said they slowed steering slightly, but eliminated its tendency to fall into corners and stand-up under trail braking, caused by the OEM Michelin Sport tires. Kim

XB9Rski, I have a set on my 03 xb9s and absolutely love them. Like you (I assume) I can't afford to go through tires every 2000 miles so I went with sport touring tires. I think they handle better than the OEM by a million times. I ride pretty darn hard (no chicken strips, and scraped pegs) and have never had them slip at all. Also, I have 3000 miles on them and they look good for at least another 1000. They are also very neutral in their handling. I would definitely recommend them. Also, you can get them pretty cheap (105 rear/ 89 front) from discount motorcycle tire on line. Good luck, Morgan |

Thank You all for your inputs. Dbl....You are only going to 4k out of them?? If thats all you are going to get you might want to consider the Dunlop 205 or 220's, I got over 10K out of my 205 |

9rski Thanks for the info, but I have actually tried the D220's and only got 3k out of one rear and 3700 (babied it) out of the other. I tend to get through them faster than most. They are always round too, no burnouts, or wheelies. Just high speed twisties. I will let you know what the final mileage is.

9ski, I am about 180 and ride really hard. Up until very recently I have lived in Colorado but I don't think it will make much difference. Morgan |

I had the MEZ4 on my S3 and they were brilliant. However for the XB a better choice would be the Rennsport as this is the sporty compound. We used them on the race bike and they were superb! |

The michelin pilot sports have a "rounder-triangle" shape that actually adds about 3mm of ride height on the rears compared to the OEM and some of the others - this is why turn in is improved (unless you drop the rear spring or sag by the equivalent). I'll be looking to put these on the 12 in the spring. |

I just put Pilot Sports on my R1150R. It came with OEM BT-56's(non SS). The thing that stood out more than anything(by a long shot) is that the Pilot Sports have a much better RIDE. I like them. |
