When I was running Corsa III, I had a good size stripe. I went to Pilot Powers and using the same riding technique, scrubbed the rear all the way to the edge. I now have BT 016's and no stripes on the rear. The front always has some stripes. I ride towards the sane side of fast. |

George, I don't think anyone was trying to lecture you. I know that I certainly wasn't. With that said, whenever I ask questions I just accept whatever answers may come along, even if they're not the kind of answers I really wanted to hear. The way I look at it, I have to be pretty thick-skinned to venture out onto the internet and ask questions of total strangers. I know that there's a high probability that when I do that, I'll get a few answers that I don't like. That's just the nature of the beast. I just try to swallow it and move on.
FWIW I had a similar experience with the Corsa III leaving a good sized strip on the rear, compared to some other tires that didn't have strips with an identical riding style. |

For the record, I am running Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsas. I do 28psi front, 30psi rear (cold) at the track. |

George hitch- I think this is a great thread. I understand the question as "does my Buell need to lean over as far as a 600 to take the same turn at the same speed."
I hope someone will discuss this with authority since I too have a buddy on a 600 who rides right over on the edge and I have a 1/8" strip left. (track riding of course)
I am a little slower than he is and have always contributed that fact to the difference in strip width - but now maybe I have been in error. So far I am reading on this thread that different tires/suspension set up makes a difference.
Is there a difference in the bike geometry that makes our Buell turn easier than a 600 and therefore it has to lean less and therefore more strips can be left with the same riding? |

the 1125r is very sensitive to suspension set up, proper set up will give you much more confidence in side grip and give a much better feel. The first step is to get proper preload, or rider sag set.
This alone, combined with getting compression and rebound settings in the ballpark, will make a huge difference in the feel and handling of the bike.
For me on my bike I have found around 25mm of rider sag on the rear and 30 mm of rider sag on the front have made a world of difference.
This is nowhere near the settings, as measured with me on the bike, than those recommended in the owners manual.
Whether this is due to 20,000 miles of suspension wear or other factors, I cannot say.
Also wise to make sure your suspension is in good shape, and not in need of an overhaul. If you have 20,000 miles on your bike, I would venture a guess she is due.
My rear shock has been replaced once and my forks have been rebuilt a few thousand miles ago.

Got no strips at all when I ran Conti RA, can't get that last bit on Mich PR2.
Even sliding off the corner at 100mph, still had rubber left.
I've learned to live with it.
