"The 65 watt Osram is a H9 bulb on a H7 base. They don't overload your wiring and really brighten things up. Best if used in a 2009 updated light housing." Tootal Anyone have the part number for the 2009 housing handy? Looking to upgrade lights with out a large cash outlay. Thanks all |

When I last spoke to Al about an updated headlight for 2010, he said he was not aware of one. That link shows it's for 2003 to 2010. |

I bought a headlight assy. from American Sport Bike over the winter. I wonder if I accidentally got the newer part? P.S. it came with new bulbs and a wiring harness for the win! |

There have been a couple of threads here about the 2009 and up Uly headlight reflector assembly being improved over the earlier units. I don't know if anyone's ever identified what the differences (if any are) but at least one guy here owned both a 2006 Uly and a 2009 model and stated that the headlight was significantly better on the 2009 model. |

I recently installed the Osram 65W bulbs on my 08 XT and also wired the switch so both are on when on high beam. I have not noticed any damage to the stock reflector yet but really have not ridden much this year. I wonder if mine has the updated reflector? Should I just wait until plastic drips onto my front fender? Anyone? Thanks. |

Supposedly the light housing were updated in 09. Not certain how the 08 fairs on that part. |

You only have the newer housing if your bike is an 09, or you bought the housing after the 09 bikes went into production and you didn't get an old housing sitting on the shelf. The part number was superseded, so if you tried ordering the old part today, you probably will get the new one, unless you have the one dealer in the world with the old housing just laying around.

You probably don't have the newer housing. Even the stock bulbs will deteriorate the reflector, nothing will melt onto your fender. |

Froggy- has anyone ever compared an 06-08 and 09-10 housing to see what's different? I wonder if they changed the reflector design, or maybe just used a better reflective material/coating. |

Not that I'm aware of, I have 3 of the old housing, none of my bikes have the new one. |
