Originally posted by Pkforbes back sometime in '09. Glad I found it or I would have had to type it all out from the list I have printed out and taped in my service manual. (hint hint)

Cross referenced filters are as follows:

AC PF1245

FRAM HP7
FRAM PH3614
FRAM PH6022
FRAM PH7575
FRAM PH9342
FRAM PH9566
KOHLER 5205002
KOHLER 5205002S
MOBIL1 M1102
MOBIL1 MO241
MOTORCRAFT FL793

WIX 51348
WIX 51391
WIX 51785

Both of these filters are 4" long. One is a black finish and one is chrome - noted by the "B" and "C" in the PN#'s. The 1002 filter is white with a K&N decal wrapping around.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Michael! The second list I believe is the XB chart, I have that in my XB manual. Thanks for the info, I stumbled around in the KV for a while hoping to find it!

I've used this one a few times. http://www.calsci.com/motorcycleinfo/FilterXRef.ht ml

I usually run a Mobil1 M1-102 but will be picking up a M1-209 next oil change as it has all the same specs as the "-102" but is a little bigger/longer for more capacity. I found some horror stories online about car oil filters causing oil starvation on motorcycles but they mostly seemed to be a case of a filter that fit but was the wrong specs. As long as you research carefully and use a filter that your engine was spec'd for you should be fine. Also lots of threads on other forums about automotive filters on motorcycles if you search the web a bit.

I run the Purolator PL30001 when I want a big filter.

You can also run Wix 51214. That's what I run.

I would stay away from Fram. It's garbage.

Ditto, Frams are made with paper thin metal, I usually stick to a WIX 51394 or a K&N 171-B.

I was running the Pure 1 filter but the manufacturer specifically says not to use it on a motorcycle as the media is efficient enough to starve the engine as motorcycle oil pumps operate at much lower pressure than a car engine. Went to the K&N for the extra capacity but it is huge and my cool collar does not fit. The dyna Long filter seems to be a good upgrade without looking unobtrusively large

I would think that car filter would be ok since the filter does not filter the oil in the trans like other bikes.
