It is about 35 degrees c and about 80% humidity.I am forecasting a size 12 black lightning hitting the local dealership this week .And I am also expecting it to rain as it did when I took delivery of the X1,and when I travelled to The Salt in 2002,also when I test rode the latest Buells last year. See a pattern developing here.Bad Weather Bikers indeed. |

Kansas City... high teens... layers of ice of which most has been scraped and the streets are beginning to freeze dry. Anyone have studded tires for an XB??? HEY Fuzz331... referring to the photo of your bike above... save me the trouble of taking my XB apart... and tell me what size socket I need for the big bolt head on the front pulley? I want to modify a socket with cutouts for the allen head bolts... to use to turn the engine when working on it... such as moving to TDC... etc. PLEASE!!!!!!!!!! assuming you still have it apart! |

Charleston, SC Sunny and 78. Too bad I spent the day on a tractor working on my new 800 sq ft Buell Garage. I did get a chance to put 500 miles on my new 04 E-Glide this week. Why do I still have the urge to move to Wyoming? Joel |

Dasxbs, The front bolt is a 1 7/8 in. the radius of the bolt center on the allens is 2 3/4 in. Point to point on the nut is 2 5/16 if you end up needing the clearance. But,depending on the ending position of the nut, the allens may not be oriented in the proper position for a special tool to be used.

By the way, the allen bolts are 10 degrees CW from the point of the nut. What ever that is worth. |

Fuzz331... Thanks... I am thinking with both plugs out it will not take much to turn the thing over... so I should be able to cut away a large clearance for the allens without significantly compromising the strength of the socket... or more than one pair of cuts... even it it will only line up on my XB... that is all I need... even though I'd like it to fit other XBs. If I had a lathe... I'd look into thinning the socket walls. THANKS!!! |

Just because you have the clearence to fit around the allen heads, do not think you have enough "meat" on the socket to remove the bolt. In otherwords you might think about cutting the slots in the socket so that it allows room for you to turn the socket far enough to loosen bolt tension. |

For those that don't know, the snow in Seattle is WET. Turns to ice immediately. 1 inch and the whole town slides down hill. Nice vids btw. |
