I keep my stuff in dry bags, then throw them in the HB's. different colors for the different items, like manual, tools, fuses, clothes etc. Nothing is waterproof that doesnt cost a fortune. I recently bought a pair of Gore-Tex lined gloves that are "waterproof", they were $200.00. My Rev-it! Cayenne pro jacket and pant combo are "water resistant" and cost $1,100.00. They let a little water in here and there. So when it rains tough I wear rain gear. My boots are "water resistant" and let water in so I got some nik wax. I live in the pacific N.W. and ride year round. It usually takes multiple efforts to truly be "water proof". |

In my experience, the only thing truly "waterproof" is a crab's ass. Anything else is just variations on "almost". |

I haven't had my ,new to me, uly in the rain yet. So I didn't know about the leakage problem. Has any one found the source of the leak, or a good way to seal it. |

Anyone who has spent time on a bike knows all about how "waterproof" stuff can be. They also know that there are few if any "perfect" solutions. And Man I have tried VEEEEERY hard to find one. The best you can do is use the gear you need, and like, in your normal riding but have stuff with you to back you up if needed. |

From what cons on this site and the Journey bags I have looked at I got a set of H/B Gobi cases. 1. They mount on the Uly racks. 2. They are top loading and the tops wont fly open when not latched. 3. Unless you ride underwater they are as "water proof" as you can get. 4. You can bounce one across the yard bust a latch and still mount it and ride off. You can get them at a good price on ebay and they should stay dry in the NW rain forest for you. Only con so far for me is you can't put a full face helmet in them but you can strap one on top of them. |

Just thought I'd post a late update. I finally got around to sealing up the areas where Hepco mounted the straps with rivets that basically put four holes in the bag. Someone else on this thread mentioned something about it. I filled the riveted areas with RTV. Well.....so far so good. I left the bike and the bag out in a heavy rain a few nights ago, and Tadaaaa.....no water in the bag. I almost shat my pants. |
