This varies by year, but I'm pretty sure the scg was using 41mm forks when the S had gone to 43mm forks. I'm pretty sure you '08 scg has 41mm. The S and certainly any STT forks will be 43mm. I assume the triple clamps can be swapped easily enough if that was your plan. |

I believe the triple trees of all 04-10 have the same diameter for the upper fork legs. Only the lower fork leg increased from 04 and newer. I think 03 is different. |

Vertical height (of the suspension) on the STT is an inch taller than the standard S bike's suspension, which is, I believe an inch taller than the Scg suspension. I can check the sales brochure to verify that in the morning sometime. It's great for cornering clearance and is comfy. I had such a great time on the race track on the demo STT (vs the R and S models) that I eventually found one in my price range and bought it. |

One caveat that I learned: The SS/STT forks have a different steering-stop set-up than the Scg: You will have to grind off some material from the center of the SS lower triple, and fabricate some steering stops (I sued bolts with aluminum spacers as steering stops). You will also want the STT kickstand... I traded my '09 Scg suspension for '09 SS suspension a couple weeks ago and went through this "fun" learning process. In all sincerity, though, the most difficult part was getting to the kickstand bolts... LOL! |

Use a standard 43mm Lightning/Firebolt lower tree, no grinding required. |

Some are saying that the S model should be good to go. One very easy way to know is to ask the person with whom you're trading whether the steering stops involve a large center section on the lower triple or two smaller ones to the left and right of the center on the lower triple (as on your Scg). |

The SS/STT/X/XT/XP frame is different than the S/SCG/SL/SX/R frame, hence the different tree. |

The frames may be slightly different, but the swap can work. It did for me. Just know that if you also wanted to trade shocks, the SS/STT shock will not work on the Scg... You'll have to dig up an S shock as well. |
