Huh? What on earth can fail to need that much in repairs? That's literally the cost of the bike! |

$12,000 - $14,000 in repairs since you got the bike? At the risk of stating the obvious, this bike isn't working for you. |

Dahyum! Those are freaky bucks! Seems like 'someone' in the service department would have made sure it didn't come back in (like finding an '08 stator and VR somewhere) at some point - but hey, that's just me. You must be really patient - I probably would've gotten out the rusty .38 and put that hoss down way before that many fixes....I'm pretty sure that would have fallen under a Lemon Law in many States. |

Here is one of his posts from last fall asking people to post their warranty work:
quote:Guard_rail Posted on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 - 11:22 am: All mine has been Warrenty as well, BUT it's still over $8000.00 on a '09 1125r. When my Warrenty is over I know I can't afford this bike. Oh yeah 12400 miles ont the odomiter from feb 2010 to July 2011 Shop called yesterday. My bike is done, a week & 1/2 early. 17 hours of labor @ About $70per hr $1200-labor $1000-parts $150-towing My out of pocket is $675. Not to mention the last $420 labor for fuel pump $300 part $500 instrument cluster $310 labor $150 tow $150 tow $150 tow $600 parts stator, volt reg $100 parts pods left right Thank God for insurance
He later in the thread mentions 4 VRs, 3 stators, 1 instrument cluster, and 1 fuel pump, and says that it was $8000 in warranty work. |

Thanks Froggy for that repost. Yeah I'm keeping myself Laff'n by looking on line for "Train Pheromones". They're proven to attract a train that is in heat and ready to mate with whatever is sprayed with the stuff!!!! Rotfl... Even Harley said if my bike comes in one more time they are gonna send some people down to check out just what the heck is going on. I can't wait to see what they're gonna do when it breaks twice. I'm trying to do 3000 miles in 7 days the last week of may. That should get her broken juices flowing. And the purpose of my post was just for some words of incuragement ... (I think.) I know v-twins are high maintenance. The down time is killing me. There's a ride this saturday called "shut the city down tour" over 2000 bikers riding together and where ever they go the city gets "shut down" and I gotta miss it cause of my stator, rotor, clutch and cam chain tensioners. |

stating the obvious: when you wreck your bike, the cost of repairing it has nothing to do with regular maintenance costs. |

Thats all???? lets see so far of 2.5 years of ownership my bike has spent atleast 10 months of that in the shop... the longest stint was just over 7 months.. Past issues/items replaced included: Clutch weep issue Rear MC Rear valve cover seal Front Rotor 3 Fuel Pumps 2 Ecm's 2 Clusters Inner Airbox Battery Entire fuel system (injectors, lines, pump) FRAME ALL of the fuel pump and fuel related items fall back on ONE thing. the frame was bad.. the lining inside the frame was found to be falling apart, clogging the fuel system. this was also one of the reason behind one of the ECM's being replaced... the bikes in the shop now, but i'm not worried... I haven't said much mainly because i work overseas and the bike has been working when ever i am home.. well except this last time which ended up costing me 20K+.... Bought a Ducati Diavel as a replacement... One thing lucky though, not one stator replaced... with all the failures i thought i would probably have that issue also, but i guess the 08's are really better for that issue. |

In 2 years from 39 miles to 16,800+ miles 1 stator, not quite 2 weeks. One weep and cover, 1 day. |

stator,vr,assorted parts that melted. steering head bearing. rear shock every sensor on bike seems to throw codes. cali can do to frame boiling fuel out the over flow like a garden hose. clutch issue now i have no gear selection or speed. List is endless. Just one summer of trouble free riding is all i have asked from this bike. Seems like that will never happen. Very fed up with this bike lately. |

I'm feeling lucky with my '08 as well. over 18,000 miles on it and all i've needed was rear turn signals, new IC, clutch weep, and belt (belt wasnt warranty). So i've only had to pay a total of $185 for the belt, everything else was under warranty. I've been waiting for another IC, they say it's causing the LFL to stay on until i'm out of gas. But the original and the one I have now have both done it. Only been waiting for about 1 1/2 months, so i know there is still a long wait. I can live with the light, i just fill up when my tripo is between 150-180 miles. |

One thing lucky though, not one stator replaced... with all the failures i thought i would probably have that issue also, but i guess the 08's are really better for that issue. I don't believe Stator failure was an issue in '08 because it had a lower output than '09 and hence didn't produce as much heat. The heat was the main cause of failure.} |

I put the bike in for the clutch and stator. They took the bike apart then said theyll check the clutch when it's all back together. Now before they put it back together "hey your clutch is broke" NO $#!+ So now they gotta Warrenty that. The thing is though... And here is the $52,000.00 dollar question??? Harley said if my bike comes in 1 more time corporate would get involved. What does that mean??? Cause this bike is on its way to costing $52,000.00 over the life of the Warrenty. |
