^^ And that is exactly the reason mine looks like this right now.

I know the local tech is good, but other than warranty work, I'd rather do this myself. If I had found the cams coming apart, they'd have gotten it.

For those of you that rotated the motor down to do the valve adjust, it's only a few more bolts to get the frame off, maybe another 20 minutes of work. I HIGHLY recommend going this route if you can.

I didn't want to say that but.....it's possible at 12k miles. But chances are probably not quite. Maybe near limits at best. Still, unless you check you will never know. It's quite the conundrum.}

It looks like Dean has a Buell in a China Shop.

Hey Dean would you mind sharing the dimensions for your motor stand

I am going to do valves early and I am considering doing the chain guide upgrade.
so having a good stand is a must.

It's just something I tacked together on the spot. It's off in height by about 1/2". Needs some tweaking to make a good one. I'm guessing the lift surface flexed a little when I set the motor down on it. I was in too much of a hurry when I made it, so it isn't quite right.

You don't wanna know the details on that.

150.00 for the dealer to do the valve adjustment.... Of course the bike is having the frame replaced under warranty, so the service writer agreed to this price since the hard work is covered under warranty...

1200.00 + is ridiculous... i would want a very detailed break down.. to the penny.

Breakdown = mechanic was inexperienced and had to spend an extra 8 hours to finish the work. : )

we just did a 12,500 service on an 08 1125r in the shop this week. i stood back there and watched the tech on and off through the process since i havent done mine yet(and its in need at 14k) we checked the valves. no shims needed...

I did a 12,5 on the day i posted it, i replaced 6 of 8 shims. the exhaust where all quite tight, the 2 front intakes were just within spec which i adjusted (a loose valve is a happy valve) the 2 rear were good to go.
This bike has been ridden on the hard side so your mileage may vary.
I will probably be doing mine early(Easy to say now, i love the Uly as i needs next to no maintenance!!)
Through the years i have found the harder you are on the bike the more you need to check the valve adjustments especially on a new engine.
Steve K, did they charge $150 labor or with parts
