So in a minor accident my header got destroyed, but I found a new one. After installing the header following the manual as much as I could (Don't see how you can attach the muffler first) I got everything together. At first it wouldn't idle at all and barely started but I did a TPS reset and got that part squared, However it's backfiring on while idling. I'm assuming The new header isn't installed right but I'm not sure what to do to fix the issue. If anyone has a good procedure for installing one please let me know. I did buy an extra set of exhaust gaskets if I need them. Thanks in advance. |

Did you by chance forget to reattach the connector for your O2 sensor? Is the O2 sensor fully threaded into the header? |

I'll double check both but I believe they are connected and in. |

you didn't install them though? I'd do that. and make sure that the old ones are out of there. |

the exhaust gaskets are a nice easy thing to replace( put them in the freezer) to shrink them, which will help install them. |

No I installed a new set when I put in the header, but I bought two sets so i'd have a spare set. |

did you do anything else or just ther header?? try shutting off the o2 with ecmspy if you have it and see how it runs. |

I can't remember offhand, but the DDFI may need to "learn". Depending how bad the old header was (smashed, restricted, etc), it may have recalibrated itself and needs to learn its way back to stock. DDFI-II on my Ulysses wants to see a 5-10 minute steady-throttle ride (cruising speed) to re-learn baselines. And to save yourself cracked header problems...LOOSEN EVERYTHING. Heads. Hangars. Muffler clamp. Muffler hangars. LOOSE, so you can wiggle every single exhaust component. Then tighten the flanges at the heads. Then wiggle everything. Then the collector hangar. Then wiggle everything. Then the muffler clamp. Then wiggle everything. Then the front muffler hangar. Then wiggle everything. Then the rear hangar. |

Took it out, rode it and everything calmed down. Had to do another tps reset and drop the idle back down but its running great now. |
