Why are there separate threads for Thunderbolts and Cyclones? Are there really that many more of them?...or just more owners?...or more interest?. And if any of this is so...then why? '98 Lightning S1 Owner |

The S2 and M2 subtopics account for more than half of the total Old School posts. Do you really want to have to wade through them to get answers about the other models? As to why, you would have to ask the mods. |

Because S2s are almost as special as M2s. I might be biased. |

There are people interested in something other than an M2? |

IMHO, OLD SCHOOL should be changed to "TUBE FRAME MODELS" ... Then each "MODEL" specific S2's, S1's S3's, M2's, X1's and the XR1200 BUELL SPORTSTER's ... CARBURETOR "MODELS" to 1998 with M2's to 2002 ... FUEL INJECTION 1999 to 2002 ... |

BUELLatthebuzzer: "FYI", IMHO the M2 CYCLONE was the "BEST BUELL" Model made and the XR1200X(BUELL SPORTSTER) is running a close "SECOND" !!! If you have more questions, feel free to PM me for more answers ??? |

LaFayette, I agree that the M2 is tops, but why the XR1200? The XR1200s are quite heavy, weigh too much, and they are not as light, or as good handling as an M2. Also, The XR1200 lacks ground clearance. And they are not as comfortable as an M2. However,I will admit that they are kind of pretty (in a Harley sort of way). M2: Definitely YES! XR1200: I just don't get it. Please explain. |

The best thing I can see about the XR1200 is that it copies some good ideas from Buell and it can be had in black. My other favorite Buell, besides the M2 is the S3T. (looks, comfort, speed, handling, braking) |

Dave_02_1200: Like back in the day of the IRON HEAD SPORTSTERS which were not much off the show room floor ... A lot of KR/KRTT parts retro fitted ... "BUT" with a little IMPROVISING a good handling ride could be made out of them ... Now the XR1200X has a lot more "IMPROVISING" potential ... |

Well, I've gotta go back to the OP's question: Why not an S1 thread? IMHO the original hooligan bike, the heck with comfort and distance riding, this thing was balls-to-the-wall fun, testosterone-injected!! And sexy as hell just to look at! Glad I was given a chance to own another one! |

LaFayette, I could swear there was an S1 thread in here not that long ago that had a bunch of posts, an "unofficial" S1 thread? That being said, IMHO I think Blake should consider adding this classic to the list of "Old School" threads? |

Hogluvr: If you want to see how to set up a AREA, check out the THUMPer FORUM ... "BUT" there is no one in the TUBE FRAME AREA that has the power to do it here because it takes a lot of time to keep it correct and up to-date ... |

Maybe I'm against the grain, but I'd wish those sub-topics for S2s and M2s didn't exist. They are WAY more similar than different, and questions asked of an M2 in many cases are relatable to an X1... it just makes one more (in this case, two more) place you have to look for information. |

Essmjay, I think the math is wrong somewhere, Old School shows 137497 post, S2 and M2 combined show 19467 post combined. I preferred it before when it was just Old School, and I didn't have to open the other topics in this one. |

The "RIGHT" "TAXONOMIST" could put this proper perspective !!! DISEXTING of the TUBE FRAME MODEL's in proper perspective in a correct and proper break down is very easy to do !!! (Message edited by buellistic on April 08, 2012) |

Buellistic , +1 on your idea for this forum .On a side note .The young man I got my M2 from sold it to buy an XR1200. He called me a couple of weeks back and asked me if I would sell the M2 back to him .He likes the XR , but loves the M2 . Best buy I ever made . |

Mtjm2: Since the XR1200(X) is a BUELL SPORTSTER, IMHO "i" would like to keep up with them ... "i" would like to have one to RETROFIT some BUELL parts on one ... |

I'm with Buellistic on this one. M2 - 91 HP. I read somewhere the XR1200 was . . . . 91 HP. Hmmmmmm. The XR is the real 'road bike' of the H-D world. Where would H-D be wtihout Erik? Even the Barco-lounger-glides have the single plane vibration mounts for their motors JC |

I would love to see the tuber KV stuff moved here as the KV is full of XB issue posts and a great deal of Tuber specific info is lost... |
