Well I found out my bill for this service at Bloomington HD/Buell,1254.00! Does this sound like a normal price?
Well I came to the conclusion that my cam would have to be replaced, and it did under aftermarket warranty! That was my soul reason to have someone else to do my first major service, but WOW I'm shocked on the service price!
I was told all four valve shims were out of wack and had to be replaced. I'm sure this is a fair price just hard to swallow..
No reach around

Not a fair price. I remember reading about $600-850 is where most HD dealers were charging.

I'm doing it myself.

Wow that’s massive!

Yes the last time my 1125R went to the dealer for the 12,500 miles service it cost $900. That’s everything, but nothing extra on top of the stated service interval.

I recently did my 24k Mile Service interval and did it right. It felt great knowing it was done right. It also felt really good to save myself enough for a new exhaust, or a new riding outfit, new farkles, new tires, etc. You get the drift. I also know my bike much better than before. The bike is even running better than new. There were some dark moments and frustration during the process but I came out of it a better home-mechanic with a big sense of accomplishment. I’m glad I did it. My 1125R loves me even more. : )

Between 450 and 11hrs is what I was quoted in jax, daytona and gainesville. Daytona was 450 jax was 600ish and gainesville has apparently lost their effin minds. Mind you that was for valve check only no oil change etc. Shims may have added another 80ish to the cost.

So I did it myself. Found spalling cam and bought cam from Erik for 143 which was delivered at no charge to the track in daytona.

If they found bad cam then so far as I am concerned the job should all be under warranty except the remander of the 12.8 service itself(about 2hrs) and the other shims(about 40bux)

You are being screwed and not offered lube.

I did my valve adjustment at the same time Rogue_biker did. It took some time, but I know it is done right. Next time will be a breeze.

I just did my 12,400 mile service today. Gonna button it all back up tomorrow morning. Every single shim had to be replaced. They were all out of spec, way too tight. I'm glad I bought the shim kit from procycle. $60 and not a single trip to the stealership. Also had a jacked up o-ring on the screen. Got an 419 piece o-ring kit at the hardware store for $16 compared to $10.42 for ONE!!

Got the frame back on today but ran out of time to connect all the wires. Total cost so far is about $130 including the oil filter, Amsoil, and new grips.

Sorry to hear that you got shafted.

Mine is currently in 2 pieces. I'll be starting the valve check tomorrow and putting it all back together over the next week.

I am about 600 miles away from doing mine and starting to collect the parts, kinda looking forward to doing it myself and taking the whole this apart.

The only thing I am not looking forward to is trying to keep the kids / wife out of the garage for a few days while the bike is on stands

I had local H-D dealer charge just under $700 for valve adjustment and plugs.

Where do I begin? Got bike back...road 50 miles home to notice oil leak. Valve cover not seated properly. Lost about a third of a quart of oil. It was all over the bike.

They came for the bike. I picked it up a week later. This time they used gasket cement to hold gasket. The bad news...accessory wire was running through the valve cover.

They came for the bike, again. Got the bike back a week later. Finally fixed; however, spent most of a weekend afternoon cleaning the oil from underside of the bike.

No rice when I called last fall they quoted me 11hrs max plus parts....however they were quick to assure me that if they could do it faster they would charge me less.

I just took my R into Temecula HD and they quoted me $640 parts and labor. I pick it up tomorrow so, we will see if things change from now to then.

$640 sounds low with parts and labor. Does that include the oil, filter, air filter, gaskets, clamps, also?

Had my 12,000 mile service done for $360.00, did not include oil change, that was done 1000 mile earlier when stator was replaced.

Here's what my dealer just quoted:

12400 mile service and the service will include checking the fluids, plugs, valve, and oil change. the estimated price for this service should be about $460.00 unless parts need replacing.}

They can rotate the engine, check valves clearances, change oil and all that, then put it all back together in less than four hours? Wow!

Just picked up mine, $525 - no valve adjustment, just check. Oil, filter, plugs, gaskets

They did manage to lose my fairing bolt washers, and rotate the outer header clamp to where the bolt head was jammed into the right fairing

Oh well, had to pull them to reinstall the EBR ECM anyway

The service from Temecula HD did not include the oil change and filter. But, it was less than what I quoted from the HD I bought it from.

Pretty sure I remember that service's book-time at 8 hours.
Usually takes me a week or so, after work, in my garage.

SprintST, no shims? Air filter? They didn't flush coolant? I thought that service is normally part of it but I haven't looked in that detail.

Rogue

- valves didn't need adjustment, so no shims

- I have a K&N, so no air filter needed

- coolant flush - nothing on the bill, so I guess not

That's all the detail the bill had, unfortunately

They did lose about 6 of my plastic washers, and had an exhaust clamp rotated to where it was jammed into my side fairing - right into the heat shielding

I had to pull the fairings anyway to replace the EBR ECM, so that was no big deal
