When the low beam goes out on me (just started cutting out a couple minutes ago) should the high beam indicator light come on? My blue idiot light comes on when the bulb momentarily goes out. I do have a jumper in the switch cluster to allow both beams on, but that's been in place for a year and a half. High beam works fine with the switch. Not sure yet if it's a ground problem or the bulb filament at this moment, but I'll check in the AM. |

That's a grounding failure in the steering head. I'm pretty much 92% certain. Run a big wire from the front of the frame to the steering area and see if it goes away. |

On my BMW, when the low beam filament lost it's ground, it found an alternate path through the high beam, which caused the high beam indicator to illuminate. Mark in AZ |

Did you check your ground under the flyscreen? If that's ok, did you wiggle and pull on the power wire to see if it is broken? |

Same here. instead of taking hours and pulling the harness apart, I just added a new ground wire to the same ground point (which I cleaned while apart)and spliced that ground into the headlight ground. This will also back feed anything else that was on that ground circuit. |

I was not able to look at it today, so I'll check in the morning to see if I can get it going. Thanks for the suggestions! |

Yep, it was the ground at the steering head. When I tugged on the wire it pulled off the lug. The only thing that was still holding it in contact was the insulation! thanks again |
