Hi all! With my crank change, can anyone tell me what the the torque specs are for the crank bolt that holds the stator/primary on? Use to be a large nut, now it's a bolt.

Glad to see it going back together. For future reference, don't forget that that's a one-use bolt. |

I don't know about the bolt, but the original maintenance manual for 2006 called for 190-210 ft/lb for the nut. I thought I remembered a note from the factory that changed it to 250 ft/lb. I sure can't find that information now. Dennis |

Yep Hugh, that's a new bolt with blue thread lock on it. Ordered with my original order. Found out on another site the bolt torque is 160-170ftlbs. So now we know. |

Dennis- he put an 08 crankshaft in his 07 cases. The 08 crank has a bigger rod journal (1.5 inches vs. 1.25 inches) and has a different, beefier spline arrangement on the sprocket side which uses a bolt rather than a nut to secure the sprocket in place. Hence the lower torque requirement compared to the original and revised 06/07 numbers. |

The 2009 Combined Workshop Manual has this spec as 155-165 ft lbs. |

Thanks Rays. Got my specs from another forum, your specs seems close enough, so I'm going to call it good to go. |

Hugh, thanks for letting them know I went to the larger 08 crank. Seems I cannot bump my older thread up so folks can see what no good I've been up to. I'm hoping I'm going to like the XB9 mod. Been updating my build on Advrider and it's a bit more detailed than the one I have here. |

Rdk- You are gonna LOVE the 9 gearing mod. I did this on my 09 a couple months ago. All fun, all the time now. |

Thanks, been taking two steps forward and one step back. Had to remove the primary cover again so i could bolt the starter up. Doh! |
