www.sportbiketracktime.com As we discussed in meeting tonight, this organization is offering several track days at Autobahn. I have signed up for the full track events scheduled for May 28 and Sept 3. Hope to see others there! As a note, you may also be interested in their RoadAmerican track days occurring the first week of June. See their website for details, as there are many more opportunities throughout the summer. Thanks Tim II for hosting the meeting tonight. |

Yes, the Autobahn info listed above is the one I have registered for. $205 for member, $215 for non-members. Of course, you can sign up for novice, intermediate or advanced group, depending on how you want to ride. The novice group requires very little bike prep beyond taping. More is required for other levels. See website for specifics. Basically ride up with your street machine and tape it for inspection.....and ride home (hopefully!) at end of day. It couldn't be easier. Novice level gets split up into slow, med, fast groups; so there really isn't a problem with too fast or too slow. You can move up and down groups/levels,and they allow allow passing in the afternoon so you can lap the slower guys if your skills are up to it. Really works out well at Autobahn on the 2.4 mile full track for each 20 minute session you ride. I also signed up for the same event to be held 9/3/2012. Go for it! The Memorial Day event draws a pretty good sized crowd with a full paddock and lots of bikes/people to see, including suspension tuning, tire changes, etc. Too much fun. |

Sunday looks to be a nice day. How about a spring traditional ride to Starved Rock. Meet at the McDonalds and ride to the rock. Start early to get back early, maybe 9:00 am. Dom't forget about the time change. Anybody in? Curt, I know you are wanting to try out the new ride. Tim I, Marc, don't be shy. Email or cal my cell, 630-688-9487. Tim II |

Tim II, Hope you had a good ride this weekend. Other commitments kept me off the bike this weekend, except for a very brief local ride. That turned out to be lucky for me because I inadvertently over-filled the oil, and it overflowed all over my back tire. I found out while leaning into a nice right-hander and having the rear end slide waaaay out as if I was on ice. Luckily I kept the bike upright and did not collide with on-coming traffic. The rear tire was completely covered in oil (Harley-Davidson...image that!). Actually, that could have been quite disastrous if it occurred on our typical back-road romp out to Starved Rock. |

Hey guys, I live in Chicago and I have a 2009 XB12R that I picked up last May. The previous owner installed a K&N Air Filter and a Jardine exhaust, but did not install any aftermarket ECM chip. It seems that the bike runs richer than it should, and it bogs down a bit when the throttle is punched. I had the 10,000 mile service performed a couple months later, and they adjusted the throttle a bit, which helped, but it still continued to bog down a bit when the throttle is punched. Late last year, around December, I started the bike and heard a loud backfire, and subsequently the bike seems like it is only running on one cylinder?!, it has lost a ton of power...any idea what could be going on here? It will still start and run, I started down to Indianapolis on it but turned back after I realized I could only get it up to about 60 mph, and acceleration was pathetic... I love the bike and want to get it running at its peak - the truth is I'm a pretty shoddy mechanic, so any advice on a good Buell mechanic would also be appreciated, I'd like to get an ECM chip installed as well. Thanks, Eric |

If your xb12 has the original unaltered ecm it's very unlikely that you are running rich. The XB's were setup rather lean, even with the stock bits in. I'd suggest getting a stock exhaust back in her, stock filter as well, but not as critical. Or contact EBR, they have a ecm setup for your combo, http://www.erikbuellracing.com/store/models/xb12/x b12-preprogrammed-ecm.html After different ecm is installed you'll need to do a TPS reset. Fortunately on the newer XB it's done with key switch and throttle, I'm 99% sure. As far as your current issue, sounds like a classic fouled plug. Change them. Third option is learn to use tunerpro or find someone savy and retune (add fuel in the right places). As far as a mechanic, illinois harley for the stock stuff. I can only tweak 07 or earlier ecms and i don't know anyone who works on Buells for others. Again EBR can help there as well, just ask them. (Message edited by lonewolfbuell on March 16, 2012) |

Hi gang...the great weather has me tempted to ride with Marc tomorrow a.m.; but it would be my first ride this season, and I don't think I'm near recuperated enough for a ride that long. I'll be riding tomorrow, but closer to home (wimpy--for sure)! Ride safe all and see ya soon! Steve |
