More stupid newbie questions :What is the best way to get rid of the rust (?) on the rotors. (Besides prevention.) |

Dont worry about, all cast iron rotors will get a little surface rust, but as soon as you hit the brakes its scraped right off. |

LOL..at least he learned it the ez way. Back when I had my 86 Honda shadow I didnt really know any better either. Bike was parked for the winter & the rotors were rusting up, well couldnt have any rust on the bike now could we? So like a complete moron I think "hey, WD40 prevents rust" so i spray some on & it looks great. Not so great in the spring when you get the bike fired up & when you hit the brakes your pads have soaked up all the WD40 & really dont work too damn well. Lesson learned...dont do stupid shit |

Glad to hear I wasn't the only one that did the stupid WD-40 thing. Wow, getting out of the neighborhood wasn't bad, but riding the LA Freeway System in rush hour sure sucked. Good thing lane splitting is legal there because that was the only way I could prevent rear ending some cage. |

I did the WD40 thing but I made sure I rubbed the brakes a bit before I needed to use 'em in the spring. |

Ok guys...So what does that make us...Dumb, Dumber and Dumbest? And to think Doughnut is both following in our footsteps and seeking our advise. Oy Vey, and he wants to become a Cop... |

I take advice from all, how much I follow is another matter. I like to get advice from as many sources as possible. I figure people here have already made the mistakes for me. Why not learn from them. As for you Dull(orb), I asked you first because I have easy access to you. Besides, you simply agreed with my idea to use rubbing alcohol. Off topic, didn't I tell you not to get me anything for Christmas Dullorb? |

I think I'll change my name or something... About to go download about 20gigs of solid model geometry, machine crashes if I do anything else except surf during the download. Maybe I'll go drink something. Anybody know any companies hiring soon? They just did away with the sick leave policy here and turned it into a totally subjective matter with no set number of allowable days off. Person-1 will be able to take 30 days off a year without an issue, person-2 will get beat on for taking off 6 days. Time to go. Let's see, what's next, oh yeah, news years eve. Sit inside with the kevlar umbrella counting the falling bullets and birdshot. |

Mike . . .. just a data point, your company;s sick leave policy is far from unique (so you MAY find that you jump from a frying pan to a fire), but it's also illegal on a number of fronts . . . . .the job market IS supposed to be loosening up, though |

If I were to jump into the fire then at least I'd know when I was being fried. Around here it is akin to the proverbial frog in the kettle of water with the temps slowly rising and the frogs slowly getting lethargic as they ebb to their deaths. The legality issues need one willing to pony up the legal fees, as several have done in the past few years with little known net result. Burning bridges is not my cup of tea as one's past deeds often follow in this seemingly ever shrinking world. Not worth the battle, clear the desk and move on to "different" pastures. Might take a week, or I might stick it out for another three years. Hopefully finish the degree off this Spring if I can get the necessary classes, then (according to those in the know, whatever they really know) I should be a lot better off career-wise. Or not. In the mean time I'm just venting a little, clearing out some clutter, reorganizing home hobbies, restructuring misc. projects, and trying to keep the pups from digging their own swimming pool in the back yard. Current mind meanderings ... http://www.wescottsauto.com/PhotoAlbum/AlbumPages/y26tbrizio.html wondering about switching the Bugatti body to something with semi-doors, or not. |

love those tracksters . . . . I look at the 31 in the garage with light in my eyes from time to time, but my wife (who's car it really is) scowls greatly . . . .. . . . . just as well, another project at this point wouldn't be prudent . . . . ya gots mail in your profile account

I keep looking at those track noses and keep thinking of fitting one to the Type-35 bodywork. But I don't have the Photoshop skills to do up an image to see how it could really look. Guess it's time to hit the hobby shops and try to find a scale model again, or back to ebay to hope the prices stay reasonable on the old stock kits. |

mikej, not sure about legality issues but here at my company they give us two weeks PTO (Paid Time Off) a year that is accrued monthly. NOT vacation, so if your sick a day you will automatically get 8 hours of PTO time, same if you take off two hours to go to the dentist, two hours of PTO automatically deducted !! I don't care for it one bit, becuase it's misleading, you think you have two weeks vacation, but you don't cause who can go a year without time off ?? It sucks !!! So last year I went down to see my son and I knew I'd be 4 hours short, but since I'm salaried I go anyway thinking no big deal, which it wasn't they didn't care, BUT I then ended up on my pay stub with PTO time of -4 !!!! WTF !! So consider that yes, it can always be worse !!!! CJ
