So, I just bought a 2000 Blast. I'm having an issue with battery drain. Replaced the battery and it just won't hold a charge. Multimeter says 12.3 to 13.6 while the engine is running. Got a spike to the 19 range. Runs fine once I get it running either by jumping it, pop starting it or hooking up a charger for a couple minutes. I'm thinking voltage regulator / rectifier. Anyone have any input? Thanks! |

That spike to 19V indicated that your R/R is no longer functioning correctly. I would replace it. |

Agreed... a 19 V spike is either a bad voltage regulator, or a bad voltage regulator ground. And it will fry a new battery in short order. |

I believe that the voltage should be 13.8-14.5 while the bike is running. |

If you are lucky, the regulator or a ground connection is at fault. If not, your stator or its harness is shot. |
