My Cyclone seems extremly cold blooded, After letting it warm up alot, I push the choke back in and it does idle ok,But when I give it throttle it pops and spits real bad?,Then if I pull the choke out about 1/4 it seems to run alot better?, I hate to ride it like this all the time, Im hoping you all might give me some things to check?, Thankyou!, |

Intake seals just off the top of my head as it is sucking air and needs more fuel. I am sure others will help also. Let us know what you find. |

Thanx Bert,Forgot to add,, Bike came from Colorado, Im in Oregon, Does the Altitude make any Diff? Im 500ft, Cyclone supposedly rode around about 7,000?, Just wanted to add this, it also has Vance&Hines Exc, Stock air box W/K&N, Thanks |

If anything the jet would have been richer I would think. I am about 650ft here and when I have been out to Sturgis riding in the mountains I had no problem. Spray around the intake seals and see if the rpm's shift. If so change the seals and they are cheap. Also lube them with Silglyde (silicone grease) this will help them seat and seal and allow them to move slightly with the engines heat cycles. |

Having lived in Denver and jetted my Triumph for that altitude, I can tell you that as soon as I got into lower altitudes on the way to L.A. it started to ping quite badly. Fortunately I was able to readjust the SU carbs along the road side to correct the fuel leanness condition.
Your carb is too fuel lean.

Check the jetting and all three intake seals.
The jetting should be in the ball park of a 45 pilot jet with the screw out 2 1/2 turns and a 190 main jet.
This will get you close.

I vote intake seal leak. Brad's M2 numbers are always good, see his profile for the family album shot. Too lean is usually air leaking into the plenum. Use blue silicone seals from James. |

Call Al or Joeann at American Sport Bike. They'll set you up.
I just used a set of Cometic gaskets on an S1 this weekend. No problem using them in the past IF you use Silglyde lube on them. Pick up a tube at Napa, it will last you a lifetime. |

There are/is no best oil. It's personal preference and how much you want to spend on a quart.
Oil is just like anything else, you get what you pay for. If you want good oil and willing to put out $15 for a quart go for RP or Amsoil. |
