I sold my 1125CR, looking for my next bike. Thinking of an XT. Wondering if anyone else has done that and can share thoughts about the transition. I had an 01 M2L prior to the CR. I enjoyed that bike more than the CR. The CR was more advanced no question, but I didn't like it as much as the air cooled Buell. Thanks. |

I'm pretty sure that Froggy did. He hates his 1125 and LOVES his Ulysses. LOVES it! You can tell by his posts, even though he posts the opposite trying to fool folks. I know that I LOVE my XT. An Awesome bike. Fast, flickable, and FUN!!! I STRONGLY recommend an XT! |

I have come off a S3 to an XT. Two entirely different bikes. I did not ride the S3 for almost 2 months after getting the XT. The XT is my daily rider and does everything well and is a more refined ride. I do miss the S3 though. It exudes more character. Right now I can't get my son off the S3. He won't ride his CBR anymore. |

I currently own a 1999 M2 and just bought a 2008 Uly XT. Love them both, but for different reasons. The M2 will need to go soon, but in their current state, the M2 runs MUCH better. It's been re-jetted & piped and just runs fantastic. I'd assume that when I get my XT dialed (pipe, FF A/F & Race ECM), it too will run as good, if not better than my M2. Best thing about the Ulysses, is the FI- push the button and go. Such a nice, worry free bike that can just about do it all. ZERO regrets. |

The XT is flickable and fun , but I wouldn't call it fast after getting off the 1125. If you could put the 1125 motor in the XT frame, you would have the most awesome bike in the world!! |

I still regret trading in my first car, a 1977 VW Bus Westphalia only to get $700 on the trade. |

I've owned a tuber (S3), Uly (X), and a CR. The CR was very capable, but just never jelled with me like the Uly. If the XT'd been available when I bought mine in late 2006, I'm sure that's what I would have gotten. |

A tuber has a ton of character and you have to pay attention when you're running it hard. I can feel the frame's "english" under me. The UlyX feels like it's carved out of a block of billet, and lately it's been running like a bat out of hell. Makes it hard to keep the front wheel on the ground. My CR? Handling is very much like the Uly - carved from billet, no flex, no wandering - but the power has a serious dose of steroids. None are better or worse...just different. I think if I had Uly bags on the CR...they'd all get a lot less use because I'd be on the CR most of the time As it is, luggage makes the X the overnight-trip ride of choice...but I've done 900 mile days on the CR with no issues. Just didn't have my tent, sleeping bag, change of clothes, fuel, and tools with me. |

I bought a 2008 1125R and a 2006 XB12X, just to see which one I liked better. Or to maybe have both for different purposes. Sold the 1125, and kept the X. And the license, and the GF, and the stuff the X carries. Then bought an XT. Wanna buy a 2006 X? |

Have both the XT and CR, but had the Uly first, so not sure if this info helps or not... If you are a sport bike guy, the XT will not measure up to what you need. It's a great bike, and infinitely fun in the twisties, but if 104 hp doesn't seem like enough, you'll bemoan the lack of power. Plenty enough hp for me to get in trouble, superior riding position, and easily fitted for daily commuting, cross-country touring, or off-pavement adventuring. . . When I hop on the CR on a rare clear winter day, I have to "de-tune' my riding style for the first few minutes to adjust to the CR's power. YMMV |

As you grow older and wiser, it's natural to find yourself gravitating towards a more sensible machine that offers a more comfortable seating position for you and your passengers and more offers more flexible carrying capabilities which opens the door to touring and more pleasant commuting. Honestly, the only drawback I find with the XT is its low power which keeps me from driving too fast. |

Long time lurker, first time poster. I've got both an X and an R, and love them equally. I definitely dig the Uly for daily commuting and overall Bad As* factor. It's very agile in the city considering it's heft, and I'd say it's a heck of a lot easier to ride quickly in the city. But on those days that I feel like being Ghostrider, I jump on the 1125R. I haven't gotten the suspension dialed in yet, so it doesn't have the "flickability" that I'm hoping to get out of it....yet. But it is a pretty bike. Now if I could just find a belly pan that works with the factory lower fairings....hmmm. |

Thanks guys, lots of good real world input. Couple more questions: 1. How does the power on the XT compare to riding an M2 or S3? I assume it's very close in acceleration/roll-ons, with the better chassis underneath you. I haven't ridden an X or XT (hard now that you can't pop down with cash to the dealer). I have ridden CR/M2L. 2. How good are the screen and hand guards at busting wind? |

Can't answer question #1, but for question #2 I'd consider the XT stock windscreen "adequate", but it really depends on the rider... I actually mounted the smaller X windscreen because I actually felt more buffeting from the taller XT version, but that's me. I know many have added Mastad or Palmer windscreen extensions that have worked for them - - the more upright riding position will definitely increase your "drag" compared to the CR. The hand guards are fine, but IMO are about an inch too low - - much better with the Touratech extensions, or any other after-market or homemade option... |

Sorry, preoccupied with new girlfriend, haven't been on here much lately, even my Steam profile shows I've only gamed less than two hours in the last two weeks, which is like a 9000% drop from my normal of like 150hrs/2weeks. Anyway, I'll probably be picking up a XT soon. I want to bring my girlfriend riding, while the 1125R will do that fine, I want to spoil her with the extra comfy Uly seat. It its too much BS to put the Uly tail on the 1125R, then I still need to figure out passenger pegs and such. Uggg, I really am not looking forward to the extra maintenance |

I found the stock screen on the XT woefully inadequate for my 6'1" frame. I had severe buffeting from the neck up. I went with the Palmer brackets and the stock screen which remedied 80% of the buffeting. |

Interesting about the windscreen buffeting, I'm 5'8 so I suppose my results will vary. Yes PNW_ULY, saw that ad and will likely talk to the guy, but getting good input from all you guys on here and another forum. And I admit now I'm wondering if I need an XT AND an M2, or an FXR, it's a sickness I tell ya. |

Work in Bellevue, let me know if you want to check the ergos on my XT - - a test ride would require some hefty collateral (M2, muscle car, benjamins, etc...). |

I learned on a Blast in Apr 07, upgraded to a 2000 X1 in June 07, added a 2002 X1 to the stable in Dec 2008, then picked up my XT in Oct 09. I absolutely LOVE the X1s, no Buell built after 2002 can come close to matching the character and personality that these bikes have to offer. That being said, my 2000 X1 is completely disassembled and sitting on a shelf, I traded the 2002 off a couple weeks ago, and the XT is still going strong. It is a better motorcycle in every category of riding than the X1s ever were. Chassis is rock solid like others have mentioned (even tubers with the front brace flex a lot) The XT is very "point and shoot" compared to the X1. Just think about where you want to go and the bike is doing it. With the X1, I really had to muscle it around and stay on top of keeping the bike where I wanted it. My only riding-related preference to the X1 over the XT is a little hard to explain, and is probably due to a combination in the differences of cams and head porting between the two bikes. First of all, the XT's power delivery is smoother but that's largely due to the better ECM technology (DDFI 1 vs. DDFI 3) The X1 came alive at a lower RPM though. The X1 has .497 lift factory cams, while the XT has .553 lift. I prefer the bottom end grunt of the X1 but they're still both long stroke, large displacement V-twins with plenty of torque wherever you want it. I've never owned an 1125, but have ridden both the R and CR on multiple occasions. If not for HD killing Buell, I really think the Uly would have continued as the adventure tourer, and an 1125 sport tourer would have been released. In that scenario, I'm pretty sure there'd be an 1125ST in my garage now, and it would probably be in the XT's place. The trouble is, there is no 1125ST for you to choose unless you want to wait and see what the EBR 1190AX is all about |

I love my XT. I did have to add Palmer brackets to the stock screen to get airflow that was clean. I did a 300 mile day on a CR once. Once. I had no desire to do it again. Now, I am coming off a cruiser, not a sport bike. Perhaps if I has a sport bike background I could have handled the CR riding position better. But since I like to take long rides and be able to stand up straight and walk at the end of the day, the CR just didn't work for me. I will say, I would put the 1125 motor in my XT in a heart beat if it would fit. While the XT has enough power to have fun, the CR has enough power to have FUN. |

I went from an XB-S, to an 1125R and now have an '08 XT. The XT is my favorite with the S being a close second. The 1125R is stupid fast (for me). The torque of the XT motor is more appealing to my riding style as well as the seating position. I did a few things to the 1125r to try and make it more comfortable. Offset A S B bars, lower foot pegs, etc. Just couldn't get comfortable on it for more than 100 miles at a time. I have the Palmer brackets on the XT. I'm 5'9" and they work well for me. I've only ever been on one tuber, a '99 X1. While the tuber's are less refined than today's XB/1125 based line up, they are still fun. As others have said, each "tool" has it's own use. For mods, I have an HID low beam, Palmer brackets, EBR ECM, and a Keda pipe. The Keda pipe is nice. I had Dean send me an extra silencer cone for the inlet. LOTS of low end torque, wheelies real easy, nice tone, minimal resonance and it's stainless-so it won't rust like the stock can. It'll be a long time before I give up my XT. But I've been perusing the classifieds for an S1..... |

I left a cruiser behind after following a friend on his S2 to a Buell dealer on my cruiser, and sitting on an '08 Uly XT. Bought it off the floor and have been smiling the past 22K miles. The bug got me, as my buddy had 2 Buells, and I was looking at used overpriced Triumph Thruxtons for a run around bike. He suggested I look at a tuber since I loved the Uly so much. I ended up trailering a project 400 miles, a 99 X1 with 10K on it. Worked it to my liking and back up to snuff. I love both bikes, and they are completely different animals. Different rides, quirks, handling, love them both. My Uly is my daily commuter for a 50 mile roundtrip, withstands the seasons from March til November in western PA. The X1 is that get out and run bike, not stopping at the store for milk. Take that for what it's worth, get an XT in addition to what you have. You won't regret it. |

I rode an 08 XT on Sunday, only had 425 miles on it so was pretty tight and I was nice to it. Wasn't a long ride. Very refined compared to the M2L I had, but like a couple of you have said the power is different. Mine had Mikuni/Buell Race pipe/ignition/lightning cams so was very strong (to me). First impression was that the XT didn't feel as strong, but again it was a short ride and I didn't take her above 5000rpm with so few miles on her. It sure feels nice considering it as a total package, the word sensible comes to mind. Feels like it would do everything well from commuting to playing. Very light clutch pull, the brakes felt spongy though. I was surprised at the leg wind protection afforded by the frame. Pretty damned nice package outa the box. I'm close to pulling the trigger on one locally. All of a sudden there are 3 in my area in the last week. Must be meant to be... |

I finally bought an XT. 2008, all stock except for a headlight modulator, tires are Dunlops, and reflective tape on the aft side of bags. I did a marathon run to Oregon to pick her up. Test rode her with the owner leading the way at near midnight on his new Kaw Concours 14 (wow what a rocketship that is, super quiet too). Then ran back home to WA state, about 300 miles, on the XT.
