Hey everyone! So I have been thinking about my blast, and it's stock windscreen... The windscreen is stock, but it scratched, and faded from the previous owner.... I don't know if I like the effect on the wind on me either.... Give opinions on the feel of riding without the windscreen (I have a full face helmet) Also.... the looks..... with the stock headlight, what does it look like (I cannot really test either of these things out at the moment, as I'm at school.) Post pics of the windscreen removed WITH the stock headlight if possible! Opinions, Friends, Opinions.... YGR |

There is a pic somewhere on BadWeb of a Blast with no windscreen and a stock headlight. (I can't look it up because I'm at work.). Looks good, IMHO. You'll have to remove the braces it bolts to with a hacksaw. I think the screen has more to do with hiding wires than it does with aerodynamics. |

That stock one puts the air at your belly and smooths out the airflow from around the front. You probably already know Maggie Mae, check out what she says. If you want to read a bunch about it, search for "Givi" on this forum. Mine is a Givi A602. It is a universal fit type. It is the tallest one I could find for the Blast. I find all aspects of riding, for me, improved with this windshield. Givi makes several, some of which are more sporty looking than others. As for me, I'm 5'7" and this works out well. Taller people may prefer a shorter windscreen because of how taller windscreens deflect the wind, for example, right at the chin or neck. |

I had top notch service from this company, and I dealt directly with the owner. http://www.rlmotorcycles.com He even sent me some extra fasteners at no charge. |

The other option I would recommend would be "bar end weights." As for me, the only changes to my bike are the windscreen, these weights, and a clock I attached. A compass would be nice too at sometime. |

You can just trim the stock flyscreen down rather than take it off. I'm not tall and I didnt like where the wind it hit me so I just trimmed 2" off the top following the stock lines. It still hides all the wires and looks stock. Its 4 simple allen bolts to remove it, so just take it off and find out the difference. But until you put some miles on your bike I wouldnt spend any money on anything. On any given day the wind will feel different. Feel whats real-live windshield free! besides....windshields are for girls and old men anyway! |

I love riding in the wind! I may be fair weather rider, but that's still a lot of riding time in Cali! And the wind is AC! EZ |

Exactly! So which are you... free of women or age, or both? .... har har! One can always take a screen on and off. That screen will kept all kinds expressway junk from hitting you. |

I'm an old man! I did buy a windshield for the big bike for the cold weather (not CA winters though), but I've yet to install it "That screen will kept all kinds expressway junk from hitting you."In 32 years of riding the only thing a windshield might have prevented from hitting me was a bee that stung me on the top of my head. That probably would have been avoided had I been wearing a helmet though! I'm just saying its very unlikely that theres much a windshield is needed to protect you from. But to each his own. |

I'm a rider with no flyscreen.
It is a fun feeling, but I take the full force of the wind. I ride fast on the highway. When fully tucked, my neck takes a beating that the flyscreen would prevent. Take it off, leave the bracket, see how you like it. I wish I'd kept mine (lost it in move across country), I want it back on now. |

One and the same, yes. That's the exhaust in my first photo. My hair has been cut since this video. (Message edited by Jet-Lee on February 29, 2012) |

did you get the Blast on a dyno yet? It would be interesting to hear what those improvements will do. |

Not yet. It's still on my to-do list, but I'm expecting an XB9 jug/piston/head this week, as well as full gasket/ring set. It's a mean little beast, I'll tell you what. Was doin ~107ish this morning to work. I'm guessing, as the needle was plenty past the 100mph mark. My rev limiter signals 111mph. Wind force had me pretty much pinned to the tank. He already has another ignition and upgraded head gear, and cam - he's definitely not stock - lol, needs those 1.75 ratio rockers though - EZ (Message edited by ezblast on March 02, 2012) |
