I've been thinking of a bracket for a 4th mount on my S3T bags. The bumper is way back toward the edge of the plate on the bag. If they were more lined up with the center of that plate, I'd probably use a bolt of some kind but this is what I came up with.
I plan on running a bolt through the bumper bracket on the bike with a jam nut, fender washer, a few neoprene fender washers all threaded into the nut sert. Then, on the bag side, I plan on 2 well nuts where the black circles are on the bracket, which will be connected to two bolts coming out of the bag. I need to tweak things a bit -I did this from my head at work with no measurements or the bike to look at. I think it's going to work out great, though. Any thoughts? Kris |

I think you're making this more complicated than it needs to be. Drill a hole in the plate to line up with the bumper, cut some fuel line to provide the needed pre-load support and thread in a button head hex bolt. Done. |

I appreciate the input, however, a bolt would have to go through the absolute corner of the bag literally between the plate on the outside & the edge of the bag. There would be no room for a washer or button head bolt on the inside. For this particular bike, a "z" bracket makes a better solution. Kris (Message edited by Knwyman on February 28, 2012) |

I have the exact setup I described on my S3T and there's enough room for a big fender washer on the inside of the bag. Perhaps your bumper doesn't sit right where mine does, but it's not in the pit of the corner of the bag on my bike. I'll try to post a photo when I get home tonight. |

Yeah, mine is in the pit of the corner. The wear mark from the bumper on the right side is actually only partially on the metal plate. |
