hey everyone! I am rebuilding my CV carb and can not seem to be able to get the pin out that holds the float on. Is it threaded on or might it just be stuck? I certainly don't want to whack-it. thanks! |

No threads - press gently but firmly on the pin and it will slide out. |

Be really careful. I think it only comes out a certain way. I just cannot remember which way. I have busted one of the ears off one time. |

i finally had time to get out and take a look with your suggestions in mind, but I'm still not getting it. Not sure if mine is stuck or not. What I'm seeing is that the pin is slightly sticking out on the outer side of the right hand ear, and is flush with the outer side of the left hand ear. Do I need to push from the right or left side and do I need a small tool to push from the flush side. I hope that I'm explaining myself well. I want to be sure that I'm not pushing it in the wrong direction in the case that its tapered. Are there any recommended tools to push the pin through? thanks to all! |

Have you tried soaking it in carb dip or soaking it in something like WD-40 or SOK(great stuff) and working it around. It might just have some varnish/crude in between the ears and the pin to prevent it from coming out.As Harleyelf said, they are a press fit with tight tolerances.Soaking in those fluids should help"loosen" it up to come out.Just my $.05 cents worth(cost of inflation).LT |

I just had one apart and knocked the pin out with a punch, a small punch and a small hammer. I hit it on the flush side, not the side that sticks out a little. |

i have not tried to soak it or use a punch yet. Thanks, I'll try that. I'll let you know how it works. |

Duceater...like that screen name! You have the nicest looking modified M2 Cyclone I've ever seen. Careful with that pin. Real easy to bend the float tang. As said, probably varnish build up. Soak, soak, soak. |

At the dealership, we used to use a spring loaded center punch tool, to get these pins out. Just try not to miss |

update.. I got the pin out (no I have not been working on it this whole time, I just don't have a ton of time anymore to work on the thing . Turns out that the arrow that is cast into the carb indicates the direction the pin is to be pushed when you remove it. I thought that this would be a good piece of info for those of you trying to do this. I don't think that it says how to remove the pin in the FSM. After soaking it with WD40 and a small tap of the hammer, it came free. Thanks to everyone for your help. |

Do your self a favor by replacing the screws with ALLAN SCREWS for later easy float bowl removal ... |
