So are these the ones they recalled or the ones they put on to replace the recall |

These are the ones they installed to replace the recalled shocks. You can tell the difference... these have a much beefier rear shock eye than the ones that were recalled... And they are in sealed recall kit boxes. |

Yup, those are the recall shocks. The original ones did not have the external reservoir. Dang. I need to find a tuber to restore just so I have an excuse to get one of these shocks... |

Well i am highly interested i have both a 16 and 14 inch currently but both have resiviors and both leak so will these shocks eventually suffer the same fate or are they better i am looking at gold valving mine but this is a cheaper route |

The later model bikes came with external reservoirs... 99-later I think, but even some of those got recalled. I have to assume they will all leak eventually...just like on your car, they don't last forever. The big difference is how much beefier they made both shock eyes on the recall shocks. They come with a new front motor mount as well. |

I believe these are all the shorter shock, however they all come with the angled front shock mount that allows the use of the shorter shock on any bike as long as you have this front shock mount. Also, they all have remote reservoirs.

The original ones did not have the external reservoir. That's breaking news to me - especially considering the S2 I bought new almost 17 years ago had an external reservior on it's OE WP shock. Maybe the M2 originally didn't have it, but AFAIR the rest of the tubers had external reserviors on their OE shocks. But there's MUCH BETTER breaking news today, 1313 |

Sorry, thanks for the clarification. I was referring to the "S1,M2,S3, and X1's" as referenced in the first post in the thread. And my actual experience with those was limited to the M2, which I did the recall for. I don't recall ever seeing an S1, S3, or X1 with a pre-recall shock with external resivior, but maybe they did. |

My '99 X1 had the reservoir non-recall. |

I bought a kit off this site. same as you are selling for my S1W. I thought my old shock was performing pretty well, that is until i replaced it. it made the bike a pleasure to ride again and handled better than i ever recall. most of these shocks are interchangeable. |

How many do you have and can I make it fit? My old leaker is a 99 X1. I'm also concerned about the reliablity of this shock, as I'm sure they've been sitting on a shelf for the last 10+ years. |

I have several... a couple of all 3 flavors and yes, 1 of the kits is specifically for 99-later x1's. As far as the reliability, I wouldn't know... but yes, they have been sitting in boxes on a shelf for 10+ years |

When I was at High Country, we had 8 or 9 boxes, 94017Y and 94018Y. 250 is what we sold them for and is a heluva deal. They were the shorter length shock, but shouldn't matter as it comes with the mounting kit for the bikes spec'd for. Zack |

well... retail on 94017y is over $1100 now... so yes, $250 is a heluva deal. |

The info that Ken has in his first post is stamped on the side of each box, year and model they fit. Fitment is the ends and the spring rate. As I recall, the 94018Y is the same as the 94017Y but with a stiffer spring needed for a loaded S3T. Z |

OK, Kenneth. I'm good for one of the X1 kits. 94017y. I'll PM you for details. Thanks. |

The shock included in 94018y shows as being for all s2 and s3 models... the shock itself is p/n k0431.m and I'm sure the spring rate is different to acccomodate the heavier bikes. The s1/m2 kit has shock p/n k0431.9 as does the x1/m2 kit. |
