Hi there Haven't had the Buell for too long so still discovering all it's little quirks. This is my first Sportsbike after owning a Streetbob. There are a couple of things that I have noticed and wondered if anybody could comment to put my mind at rest: 1. "Check Engine Lamp" tends to come on intermittently - for no particular reason. Had engine checked and all is ok. Has anybody else experienced this? 2. For a new bike it seems to need a regular top up of oil. Maybe this is the norm for Buells/Sportbikes, with the harley I never had to top it up - even after 65,000 Kms. Thanks in advance for any replies. |

The oil check procedure is a bit 'quirky'. There are quite a few threads on here about how best to do it. You CAN overfill....make sure you don't have a leak. I haven't heard of others on the board who have a high oil consumption issue. Check lamp on mine comes on at start up. You could be getting a low pressure signal. If you are coming from a Big Twin, keep in mind the 1125 motor runs best at well over 3500 rpm. And... welcome |

I'd suggest you empty the bike of oil, then put the correct amount back in and forget about it. It takes 2.8qrts. See the links at the top of this board or clic here http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/325984.html Also do a search for diag mode and check the codes yourself. |

The best thing you can do is get an owners manual and service manual. An electrical manual if you have the $$. Does your bike have the stock exhaust? Does your bike have the stock ECM? Many 1125s have their front brake line on wrong from the factory, send pictures. |

Yeah, all stock! I'm in the middle-east so parts etc are a bit hard to come by |

Gandhi, post up the codes! To check the codes, enter diag mode: 1. hold the two buttons on the tach down (mode and toggle) 2. turn the key on 3. the first item on the tach should be codes. 4. post the codes up. |
