My soon-to-be-new-to-me '96 S1 still has the original battery in it. I was wondering if there was an alternate to going to the Blast conversion kit? |

I would go with this cycle-tron interstate battery. here is a part number FAYTX14 Cycle-Tron Plus - 200 CCA - 12 AH This fitment is Buell Specific to your model and year. I have six of these batteries but in different bikes. They are around $80-117 each. link for ya http://www.interstatebatteries.com/cs_eStore/Searc h.aspx/Motorcycles/BUELL-MOTORCYCLES/S1-Lightning? dsNavigation=Ns~product+Type|101|1|,N~38-2147384748-4282937860-4294487295 |

I have an Odessy, pretty good replacement. My next battery though will be either Ballistic Performanc EVO2, or the Shorai. I saw the Shorai exhibit at the San Mateo MC Show. Amazing, the battery is slightly over ONE pound. B.P. Evo2 is the same, but looks less 'conventional'. Either one is around the price of a normal replacement battery. |

Wasn't there a recall for the battery re-location kit? Or was it not a recall, just a modification? |

That wasn't a recall, I think it was a SB to relocate the VR and use a standard sporty battery. |

The bottom line, no mater what battery you buy, if you do not keep it on a trickle charger(BATTERY "PLUS")when not riding, you will not get your monies worth out of the battery !!! Try www.batteryplus.com ... also www.interstatebatteries.com ... (Message edited by buellistic on February 19, 2012) |

Agreed, I have the Battery Tender Jr., and the snap-apart rubber connector on the bike's battery. I don't know what it's called, it has two pins line up opposite. Anytime I got more than two or three days without riding, I'll connect it. |
