Have you ever parted out a Buell?

If I parted this bike out...could I make any money? I have no idea what S1 Buell parts are worth...but the Pro-race kit must be worth something (it has the full kit, plus Corbin solo seat, etc.)...and all the stock bits and pieces...anybody got a handle on current used S1 parts prices? I'm just wondering...

It would take some time, but so does trying to sell it in one lump.

You picked the wrong place to post this! As far as i know you will only break even on what the bike would have been worth. I would not be surprised if you get flammed for this thread! We don't like parted out bikes that were whole before. Many would rather buy it whole. I know you will hear different opinions on this........But get ready.

That bike is in Canada only a few hours from me. I believe that he was trying to sell it for about 5 grand which is likely unrealistic in the present market. It is crazy because a Harley guy might spend way more on an old sportster but not a buell.

Beautiful bike.

Thats what i thought AT FIRST.... but then I started thinking all the m2's had the newer style, both headers drawing to the middle...?

Not to thread jack but the 97-98 headers were over the frame headers like on the s1, just out of mild steel fox

mild steel fox is the best metal to buy...

So what is the difference between the two headers shown? One has ~2" between the header tubes over the cam cover, the other has perhaps ~4"

!!!Beautiful Bike!!! If only I had the money and space for a third Buell right now. If I had money for a lap-top I'd have two functional bikes right now.

I'd love to buy that twin tail kit (tail, seat and tail light bracket) but they'd be getting paint, I'd hate to have to paint over such pristine paint, but I think I could do it. I don't have an accessory catalog old enough to know where the kit's price point started. The one's I've seen on ebay at $350 seemed over-priced to me, but I didn't ever know the starting price either...

Oh yeah, if you can sell that bike intact please do, such a beautifully preserved S1, just plain gorgeous.

PB1, I picked up an only moderately trashed S1 subfender, just the mounting holes are bad. I think it will do, thanks for throwing my name in there though, I appreciate that.

It has 15,000 kilometers on the clock. Thats about 9300 miles. Its in excellent condition except for those bubbles under the tank stickers...Brand new battery and rebuilt starter,etc...anyway...I'm in relatively poor Canadian province and guys up here do a lot of trading...In trade for the Buell, I've been offered cars, trucks, snowmobiles, ATVs, a one-person airplane(!!?), a horse, small boats, guns, high-end custom knives, but nothing that really interests me yet. Maybe I only have these crazy thoughts because its winter...my thoughts get confused when I can't ride.

Robin, sounds like you've a lot of interest in the bike. You'll have an easier time selling the extras seperate from the bike, but it might be nice to hold onto some for the new buyer to have first refusal on.

PLEASE don't part it.

OK, relax....I'm not parting it out. I'm not selling the extra stock parts either (I need them in case the threatened government motorcycle safety inspections start here...so I can change over to stock pipe, etc. for the inspection)...The bike will probably still be for sale with all the extra parts...but in the spring, when someone can test ride it. A young guy on a Suzuki GSX sport bike who lives around the corner took it out for a ride in the fall and has been drooling over it ever since...He wasn't all that interested until he actually rode it. A lot of young guys who have only been on high revving Japanese sport bikes don't realize how much low down torque the Buell has compared to their bikes which need to rev a lot higher. And they find out that the Buell type of power is a lot more useful in town.

Its just the winter...it makes you crazy.
