I have a weird problem, my new to me 2005 xbscg is puking oil out the overflow tube that ends under the seat. I changed the oil and know is isn't overfilled. Do I have a plugged oil line? Any suggestions before I take her into Tucson HD? Seems to run fine, no oil light, no noises. |

That it the transmission/primary vent hose. Pull your clutch inspection cover to check your primary fluid level. It should be at the bottom of the clutch diaphragm spring with the bike standing upright. |

I dont think so, the hose says "to oil pump" on it I think. Also, I rode it home from Albuquerque without any problems, this only started after I added some oil to the tank and apparantly overfilled it. I then drained the tank and refilled with two quarts of fresh oil. Now it is still puking. |

The hose has the printed text on it because it is also a part used on sportster models. It is the transmission vent line. You could have an additional hose if someone rerouted the crankcase breather lines from the airbox. The engine oiling system is essentially a closed system. It only vents though the pcv system at the top of the rocker boxes. |

Okay, so when I drained the tank and refilled it I also took of the airbox cover and clean oil out of there, clean my filter too, could the pvc valves be the cause, stuck open or something? Could this happen if I overfilled the oil tank? |

The only hose under the seat is the tranny vent as previously stated. |

Sounds like the check valve in the oil pump is bad. Check valve stops the flow of oil into the crank case when the engine is off. If oil seeps by the valve into the crank case it will blow out through the vent tube. Now if it is the transmission vent tube puking oil check primary chain case fluid level. |

Is the oil tank on the scg model smaller than the s model, I know the frame/gas tank is smaller. The oil was from the air box overflowing down the frame under the seat. I cleaned it out, washed and re-oiled the filter and put all back together last night after work. Ran fine this AM to work, will see how it goes... |

The SS and STT models have the longer frame and swingarm. They hold about 0.6 gal more fuel but the oil tank is same size. |

Weird, when I drained the oil I know I only put two quarts in, the manual says it holds 2.5, so why so much puking? |

Take a pick everyone seems to be talking past each other here. how much oil did you refill with? How much did you overfill it? Did you cahange the filter? Check the primary? and the pic is to make sure we are on the same page hose wise. |

I filled it with two quarts, which if I can believe the manual should be a quart low. I did not change the filter. The tranny overflow hose wasn't the problem, dry inside the hose, primary level appears fine. There was alot of oil in the airbox, which overflowed down the frame under the seat where the fan blew it around quite a bit. Also, should the fan run at all times? Is there a better way to cool the rear cylinder, a better fan, air scoop on the right side, etc...Summer is coming and I don't want to damage anything riding in the Tucson heat. |

Yes there is a right side scoop available if froggy has awaken from the Crotona he may be able to help you there. It sounds as though you need a catch can as well I think you will be fine and the system is just puking out what was in there. My XB would puke allot of jizz when I cold started it but I never opted for the catch can upgrade. |
