Is there anything special about the steering lock key? Or can a local locksmith fix me up easily? My bike didn't come with one. |

What year model? Is it a barrel key or a regular key? |

Hmmm - seems to me the direction of the wheel when in locked position may not work very well with the lean of the bike on its sidestand. But I don't lock the forks. Do many tube-framed Buell owners lock the fork tubes? |

My 00 X1 uses the ignition key. And yes...I lock mine all the time! |

I never lock the steering. 1. it's something else for me to forget when I go back to the bike, and start it up to ride off. 2. if they want it bad enough...a locked steering head isn't going to stop them. 3. tuber locks DO point the bars the "wrong" way. |

Pretty sure my '02 locks the "right" way. I've used it once or twice, but I don't anymore because I forget too often to unlock them until after the bike is running. Did the same with my Sportster all the time. The XBs and 1125s are nice, it's built into the ignition tumbler. |

My X1 also locks the "right" way...bars turned to the left. And I too forgot to unlock mine once...and only once!...not good! (Message edited by todsho on January 26, 2012) |

The first time you try to unlock the forks in the dark, you quit. |
