Author: Yamamoto Tsunetomo Original book title: "Hagakuri" Outstanding quote Darth. Thought I was the only weirdo around here. Bottom line is, Rocketman, Bads, Fubba, Glitch, EasyRider, Darth, XB9R, Misato, JooJoo, M1 and a hundred others are the reason this is the best Buell site .... period. I also own a 9R and a Blast, and have avoided a couple costly mistakes because of BadWeb. Opinions are like AssHoles........... Blackhat |

Rocket: Is your Saab the fastest, most powerful, best handling automobile on the planet? I'm guessing no. If we apply your high motorcycle standards to your choice of 4 wheeled transportation, I'm led to believe it is in reality a pile of crap, unworthy of anyones admiration, attention, or possession. In my neck of the woods, if your vehicle can't travel in 30 inches of snow, 36 inches of water, and tow a 3500 pound boat it belongs in a junk yard. Yup, it's all a matter of personal perspective of what the "real world" is. Welcome to the Rockies. |

I've got a Blast and a Firebolt, and for distance riding, I'll take the Firebolt every time And you are a little guy too. Anone over 5'10" or with a 36" inseam is going to be cramped up after a short bit. I agree with Ralph, stretch the bike just a bit for those of us who are larger than the buell standard..who did they use anyways? Erik?..and they would double sales easily. |

Ralph, just change the rearsection for the Firebolt tail, its alot more comfortable for a passenger then the lightning. As an owner of a 600 supersport, I wouldn't even attempt to ride it full out on the street. And I am smart enough to know I don't have the track skill to take it full out on a closed circuit either. I prefer my lightning on the street and the same deal I know even then I am not full out but it doesn't feel rushed for the street. I still can't wait to get it on a track. |

LOL...well, yes. I'm 5'11", a 34" inseam and I weigh 135lbs sopping wet. However, there are plenty of people that are bigger than me (in any dimension) that enjoy the XB series (R or S), so I guess it's just a matter of what you're willing to put up with! |

The ergos of the XB9/12R are great for me. I'm round about 6'-3" tall. They are a near match, just a bit less aggro compared to the way my Cyclone is set up. This is the same bike that has gone cross country and taken me 920 miles in 18 hours. You want a bagger get yourself a bagger. I prefer a sport bike. The best thing I've found to help with staying comfortable on a sport bike for long distances is to have the clutch and brake and shifter levers all adjusted to optimum ergonomic positions, and even better, to have gotten your ass into shape. A little running and some squats will do wonders for the durability of one's ass on long motorcycle trips. To say the ergos of the Firebolts are too cramped is too say that the ergos of all the repli-racers are also too cramped. And if that is the case, I strongly suggest you look for another style of motorcycle and go join the girls for a nice short ride. No offense CJ and Charlotte. |

I strongly suggest you look for another style of motorcycle and go join the girls for a nice short ride. Hey Blake why another style of motorcycle? The XB's are girls bikes and that's exactly what's wrong with 'em compared to a Tuber Rocket: Is your Saab the fastest, most powerful, best handling automobile on the planet? I'm guessing no. Actually not far off - especially those 2.3 Turbo Carlsson's or a 2.3 Viggen. Not much would get past one of them driven angrily! Rocket

go join the girls for a nice short ride. I'm guessing me and Char have ridden further in a day than a LOT of guys, AND without the whining !!! No offense taken Blake !! Bubba, you Kill me !!! However I tend to agree that guys who do nothing but brag about how fast they are and all their greatest toys ARE compensating for something !! Makes em feel good to call a bike a girl's bike !! LOL CJ |

Rocket is the one who is slow, and in more than one way I might add. Maybe you are slow, just cause something sounds a certain way, doesn't make it so !! The XB's are girls bikes and that's exactly what's wrong with 'em compared to a Tuber After all you drive a really fast Saab, and I just ride a girls bike, and everyone knows driving a Saab makes you more manly, so I guess yours is bigger !! Nothing wrong with the XB's in my opinion, and in my opinion I'm smarter than you !!! LOL CJ XB Rider !! |

The S1 I would consider "macho". But the XB's have a feminine look to them, thats not said in a bad way either its just that to me they dont look like a rough & rugged back alley brawler type bike. |

Oh yea, even tho I can agree with Rocket on a lot of posts...I think Saabs are one of the ugliest piles of shit cars on the road. I dont care how fast or nimble or safe or whatever else they may be...they are simply too damn ugly to be seen in. |

Rocket...never owned a saab but I did own a a Volvo once. Nice car for what it was but the only reason I had it was the dirt cheap price. Ugly son of a bitch too. And Hardluck..yep like was mentioned, you aint listening. The Tube frame bikes are a lot tougher looking then the XB's. The new bikes do kinda look like a girls bike, sorta like the cute little 600 Duc monsters. Plus the tube frame bikes are a great bike if you crash a lot...I think Ilikehotchicks should get one |

Ahh...FYI, that quote from earlier. The original book was "Budou Shoshinshuu" by Daidouji Yuuzan, written in the 16th century as a guide for young samurai. The modern translation, by A. L. Sadler, was first published in 1941 as "The Code of the Samurai". "As for the military arts [motorcycling], he knows all about them but disdains to practice them, merely boasting about his skill at what he cannot do and full of enthusiasm about some useless folly." Farther down that paragraph: [Such behavior] "...is due to nothing but a weak and untutored mind incapable of self-control..." Ahh...it's nice to know even hundreds of years ago they had morons like him running around. Human nature! edited by darthane on December 19, 2003 |
