Randomly surfing Ebay I came across this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-Buell-Factory-Race-tub e-Frame-/270860937186?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accesso ries&vxp=mtr&hash=item3f1091e7e2 What really caught my eye was the seat frame. Anyone have any info/history on this? Factory Race bikes? I'd love to see photos of one. If 1000 bucks was pocket change I would buy it just to have it. The VIN is "race use only" Ha... awesome. |

Recently I ran across a 98' S1 for sale that was a Buell factory prepared race bike. It came without lights and had a lightened flywheel and factory worked heads (pre-thunderstorm heads). It had a factory race ignition and exhaust and was chain drive with an assortment of sprockets. I thought the ad said there were only 50 of them made but the ad has since been deleted so I don't know the details. Now I wished I'd saved the picture so I could look for signs of that tail section. The ad also mentioned the name of the racer and the race series it was built for. Maybe this frame is one of them? |

Yes it does appear to be an x1 frame and its numbered 50. I was curious why a "race only" frame has a horn mount. He he.. Meep meep.. excuse me i would like to pass you for the lead please. |

Here's my '99 X1 factory racer. Note the tubular rear subframe. It has no bosses for a kick stand passenger pegs etc.

I recognize the seller and he was deep into Buell racing back in the day. Knew Henry Duga and Erik well.Last time I was at his shop he had a bunch of old Buell stuff in the rafters. |

It was a long search to find this bike. The motor, frame and all parts are stamped or scribed "For Race Use Only" The tail section is factory, but the front is Airtech that I modified. I have a connection for the original factory fairing as well. It also has the added left side caliper. The bike is a blast on track days.

One reason I love tubers is because I am a fan of naked bikes but... Damn that is sexy! If it ever needs a new home... ha. Drool! |

WOW great bike never seen one before one question it uses the older smaller tank. Has it a fuel pump inside the tank or is the bike converted to carb? Thanks |

Anybody that's going to be at Mid-Ohio for a track day this year, let me know. I'm usually the only Buell guy there.

Made an offer on a X 1 today. That race frame, is it like the street version with a different sub-frame and no passanger rests? |

Does Airtech make a full fairing and seat for a X ! now ? I'm thinking about making a lucifer's hammer 2 replica with Aitech bodywork for a Harley - Davidson XRTT 750. |
