A brand new member here! this is my first post to your board, but I've been reading the board now for a couple of weeks. You've got a good community here and I hope I can bring something of my own to it. In doing some research for my next bike purchase, I've become a convert to all things Buell. When I made my list of wants and needs it seems Buells are the only bikes that fit just about everything. Big torque and power down low being number 1. I'm not much into having to rev the snot out of a bike to get anything out of it.....Buell. A decent price ...... Buell. I'm kind of a square peg in a world full of round holes....... definitely Buell. My decision is made!!! Now which one ? I'll be talking to ya, Pauly |

Thanks for the welcomes everyone. Can't tell at all that Dave's in sales, can ya ? Jeeez, let a guy get his shoes off. What I am looking to do is pick up a NEW ( yes never sold) 02 Volcano and orange Cyclone at a dealer about 300 miles from me. Provided he comes waaaaay down in price. He's looking for 12,000 Canadian (about 9000 US) + taxes for it, which is a big tick high. I also found a new vol/orange M2 in Athens Ohio for 6500 US. I'll have to look into the importation and customs rules but I doubt it run near 12,000 . The price up in the Great White North here for the 04 XB9S is 12,999 so I should be able to knock him down to around 9500 or 10000, which would be more like it. Otherwise I guess he could use it for a plant stand!!!!! Any tips on what to look out for with the M2 would be very welcome And Dave? Any tips from the otherside of the desk about how to knock this dealer down would be very helpful indeed!!! Again thanks for the welcomes everyone pauly edited by pauly on December 17, 2003 |

Welcome aboard Pauly -- the M2 is the best motorcycle and someone around here can prove it.

Or he says he can prove it anyway. For my money, the M2 is a great bike but......... The '98 S1 is (and always will be) the COOLEST bike ever created by God Himself. If I were going to start over I'd get on Cycle Trader Online and find a good quality, low mileage, S1 and live happily ever after. Such as: http://adcache.cycletrader.com/5/5/3/1243553.htm

Pauly, Make sure all the recall have been done. Have them install a #45 pilot jet. Then just ride. |

A M2 or an XB12 or even a nice clean S1 would all be great choices. Avoid the X1 like the plague. |

Court, How can you prove that?!? I'm a bit biased here but 98 S1 Lightning is definately the best bike ever made Pauly, I get the impression your a Canadian, what part of this vast Country are you from? I got a line on a 95 Purple S2 and possibly a 1998 S1 thats very nicely customized, last going off the S1 was going for about $7,500.00 Canadian. Last week there was also a Red 96 S2 on the Auto Trader for $6,500.00. I may have the info on my computer somewhere but it was the second time in two months the guy was advertising that bike. I'll drop ya some mail!!!

Pauly...Welcome aboard!! Buying a Buell is definately a liberating experience. As a 2 Buell owner ('98 S3T & '98 S1W), I can't say enough good things about these bikes. Make sure to buy the bike to suit your riding needs. My first Buell (S3T) was bought because I wanted a bike that was sporty yet tourable (and VERY different, of course). My S1W is just for fun. It's not the bike for long distance riding (at least not for me). Most of all, ride the sh!t out of it!!! |

Pauly, Welcome! Thanks for dropping in on our little corner of the web. As far as tube framers go, the 02 M2 was/is the most sorted out of all of them. Just rejet the pilot jet, set the low speed screw and ride the wheels off the bugger. I love my M2. Brad 1995-S2 2000-M2 2000-Blast |

Welcome Pauly. If you have the cash find a used Cyclone. They can be had on EBAY for $4000.00 American. $9,000.00 is way too much for that bike when they go used with a couple thousand miles for $4000.00. Find a 2000 or newer model. Mine has been bullet proof other then the speed sensor. Here is one that sold cheap on EBAY: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=49983&item=244 7765822 Mike |

Pauly, Welcome aboard! I personally feel that the M2 is the best Buell! Of course, I'm prejudiced. I have to agree about that $9000 price. I paid $8500 for my 2001 M2 and I bought it in April of 2001. Even later in the summer of 2001 some dealers had them at under $8000. If you have $9000 US burning a hole in your pocket you could consider an XB9. A 2001-2002 M2 is a great choice too but don't pay $9000 for one. |

Court, I've heard conflicting stories from people who, at best, would have heard the story 3rd or 4th hand about why Parkway Blue was purple. I really am curious, and I'd love to hear (or read) the true story. |
