I was wondering what companies make new mufflers for the older tube frame Buells? I have a vance and hines on my 2001 m2 that is hollowed out from the previous owner. No Good. I know D&D makes one which I will buy if I have no other options but I am not sure of the noise levels that I have been reading about. I like loud bikes but I dont want anything that will make my wife deaf when we go out for rides. |

I have one new in the box if you're interested, $300 plus shipping. They go for much more if you check around... |

Michael, Do you have a new stock muffler? |

The new one is a D&D. I do have a new take-off for an older M2, '97-'98 with the 2" collector I was going to offer up when I had time to load pics & stuff, been a bit busy lately! |

I just replaced a Force StreetFighter on my Blue 00 M2 with a stock exhaust. It's a lot quieter and my neighbors appreciate that. I also have a rather knackered D&D on my Orange 00 M2. Comparing the two, the stock is a lot quieter, but it's sort of a muffled, dare I say, emasculated sound compared to the D&D. But my intent was to take the Blue bike back to stock, so this is the price we pay. |

You can rebuild that V&H too. American Sport Bike will get you a core and new packing for the thing. Those pipes rattle themselves apart if they are gutted, they are just not solid enough for the job un-packed. |

I like the D&D on my Orange 00 M2 but it's old and I'm sure it's a bit louder than a new one would be. One of the limitations of the D&D is that it's sealed up with rivets and you cannot repack it your self. It must be sent back to the factory for repacking. As I understand it the V&H are sealed up with screws and anyone can repack a V&H. |

I got in touch with american sport bike and they do not carry the insert for the v&h. Looks like i will be going with the D&D. Thanks for the input. |

I just received a new Drummer muffler for my '00 M2 from KDFab. It is a new model that he has made for the tuber race header and it is another great option that is really well built. I have a NOS race header to mount on the bike with the Drummer and I think that it should make for a good sounding and performing system. Kevin is a site sponsor and a great guy to deal with. When you call KDFab, he is the guy most likely to answer the phone. |

Sorry they don't have that for you Derek, I wonder if it's available direct from V&H if you are trying to keep cost down you could try them. Seems like it was less than $20 when I priced it a few years ago. |

V&H sells the core, about $30 if memory serves. I had to get a replacement for mine. |

Thanks for the help. I purchased the core and packing directly from v&h along with a new v&h name plate with rivets. 51.97$ |

Sweet, glad they got you the parts you need! Sounds like a pretty decent price considering the cost of a new can for the bike. |

"It must be sent back to the factory for repacking" D&D claimed (when they first developed the tuber muffler) that due to their construction (the perf tube does not float in the packing) and their use of stainless wool, that it will never need to be repacked. I have 40K on one, and it sounds the same as it did when it was new. YMMV. |
