My plane landed 11:30 the night of Thursday, December, 22nd. A buddy who owns 2 RS1200's picked me up at the airport (as usual). Since it was 'late', after a scenic tour of Milwaukee due to construction by the airport, we headed directly to East Troy. My buddy said 'Let's stop on the square and have a beer!' Well...we ended up closing the bar that night - so much for 'having A beer'... Here's a cell phone pic of the square lit up for Christmas.
It probably looked that blurry to me 'bout the time I walked to my parents house... Since I always have some projects in the works for my Buell's one of my missions while I was home was hitting the local Buell dealers for some of the parts I was needing. First up was Hal's. Even though the only Buell's I saw at Hal's were the old race bikes by the foyer, there was still PLENTY of Buell influence in the store. S2 dragbike pic:
XB Roadracing bike pic:
1st place trophy from Lightning Series race (only a mere portion of their Buell trophy case):
XB12XT pic (the H-D with the fairing by the pic should give you an idea of the size... And there were plenty of these pics like this that I am not posting...):
After a brief perusal of the showroom and not finding any Buell's I headed over to the parts counter (cell phone pic):
Interestingly they didn't have a single part I was looking for. Next dealer was House of (shudder) Harley. They had an XB12STT on the floor on their unique stand (cell phone pic):
If only their floor weren't littered with so many damn Harley's I would've been able to get a pic of the number plate sticker 'POLITICS SUCK'... These next cell phone pics show what Harley must be doing to make tires a little more interesting while they try to figure out how to chrome them...
Fortunately, House did have a couple of the parts I was looking for. A trip home just wouldn't be complete without a stop at EBR.
The Abraxas Inferno color on the 1190RS is sure freakin' SWEET! Too bad my camera can't deal with the lighting for the first pic, but the 2nd pic shows the characteristics of the Abraxas Inferno color pretty well.
Another kind of RS - an early RS1200:
I've always had a soft spot for the XBRR, but then again so should pretty much any fan of air-cooled V-Twin's:
After EBR I went to Uke's Buell and found a couple more of the parts on my list. I didn't go through their museum and didn't take any pics there, so if you want to see any of the Buell's from their excellent museum - you'll just have to visit them yourself. Mmmm...Aisle 5...Beer and cold beer...
There were a few more local dealerships that I did not have the time to check out - after all I was home for the holidays to visit family, right... And even though I wasn't able to find all the parts on my list I still enjoyed my time back home. Here's to 2012! 1313 |
