Merry Christmas to all - Was going to dig out and fire up the BBQ. Opted for the George Foreman instead... NY strip, prawns and steamed broccoli. A red velvet cupcake for dessert, a cigar and a few hot-buttered rums! Viva las Holidays Z&L ps - Frank, is the engine isolator the original or did you ever replace it? |

The front isolator was original at 12K miles. Are you trouble shooting something? |

Been following a thread on the Uly board about the isolator. Looked like 25k was a long time for one, so I got a new one. The old one is starting to tear at the web but still OK.
I was just curious if it had almost 26k miles or a little over 12k. Thanks Z |

Once it starts to tear it is done, replace it. I do not know the thread your following Zac but it is easy to see that isolator is shot. There seems to be a school of thought among the uly elitist that it is ok until it fully collapses. But what do I know. |

Found the thread... Sounds like you might have two problems. What does your front tire look like? I would check the front tire for cupping, if it is cupping you may not be running enough air pressure (I run 36 to 38 rear and 40 to 42 front depending on tire wear). I have 4 thousand miles on my last set of tires and they have at least 4K left to go. I fully expect to get 8 to 12K miles out of them. Check balance as well. I use a static balancer that is very much spot on. If it feels rough at idle I would check primary chain, (the adjustment shoe as well) and the main shaft nut for proper torque (I do not know if that was ever a problem on the XBs). I would not worry about the hemi joints unless you have loosened one or taken one off. Start with that one and check the torque. |

Some pics of me on the ride with Dan and Brian to Deckers on 11-11-11. Brian's nephew was taking pics of us off the back of Brian's Uly.

Thanks for the ideas Frank - Front tire is fairly new, rear is about half gone - no front cupping at any rate. I had been running the tires at 42 F&R, last 6 months, bumped it up to 50 when commuting(Froggy pressure). Trips to the hills I drop to 40 each. Pressure really has no effect on this either. Pretty sure the vibes I feel are just the taller tight Buell suspension that I usually run at full-mush. Does not seem to be engine rpm dependent so I doubt the primary chain or heim-joint links are at fault. I am chalking it up to "nature of the beast". Nice pix John - thanks I can't wait for my neighborhood to melt down so I can get a bike to the highway... Z |

Got out today (on the Buell) for a ride down south to Sedalia. Had not ridden it since the ride posted above to Deckers last November. You tend to forget, when you have not ridden it in over two months, how much fun the bike is. I love my Buell! Nice day too. (Message edited by jcbikes on January 26, 2012) |

Been hiding up in the hills, waiting for winter to arrive, so we can do some skiing. May as well start thinking about riding, April is almost here. That's when our road usually stays clear of snow, although I could buy some studded tires. |

Got out on the bike on Sunday, finally. It's been a long winter. Will be ordering a new stator kit in about 3 weeks, already have a new regulator. Will be doing 2 track days with the Jason Pridmore school in May. CAN'T WAIT. I just hope the weather is good. Hope you all are doing well. |

Exciting news Julie! Tell Dan I'd like to come up and help when he swaps the stator so I can learn more about it. |

Jody, I'll be ordering it around the 17th (unless my paycheck looks good LOL) and maybe this week. Dan said as soon as we get it he's going to start working on it. We don't want to wait until this one goes. We'll keep in touch. Oh and I'll be down your way in a couple of weeks. Doing my HEDIS with Kaiser and I have a bunch of doctors offices to go to. |

Julie, when you are down my way call me, I'll pm my cell number to you. Mo-Mo's is the one restaurant in town with some healthy food choices. Please call when you get the stator and if I have the free time I'll come up and watch Dan and hopefully learn a thing or three. |
