I just changed the handle bars to some dirt bike bars and they gave me a 1.25" raise in height. |

Preybird1,is that with just the bars alone? The reason i'm looking is i'm in the process of getting some different-than-stock bars from someone and i may have to use the 1" risers for riding comfort(better to have and not need than need and not have...plus less time down waiting for a set). Maxbuell, thank you for the info sir.Gives me some food for thought as i also know that Al from AmericanSportBike has some as well.I just wanted to see if anyone had a set "laying around" and not using.I thought someone had sent me an email about a set and i accidently deleted it by mistake.LT |

Yes that's bars alone. They made the bike a lot more comfortable for me and my GF on the back. This way she is not leaning on me making my ride uncomfortable. This will be my 4th set of different bars on this bike and so far i think these are the last set i will need. |

I've got the stock bars on my '00 X-1 and i'm in the process of changing/trying something different.Seen several bikes with fat/moto type bars on them and i like the looks of it.Depending on the rise of the bars alone will dictate how it will be comfortable riding(thats why i am looking for some risers) so that if the riding geometry/comfort isn't there then i have the risers to put on and go from there. You and everyone knows how all of us like to do our "thing" with these bikes..some stock, some small changes for personal preference and the full change over. All to each his/her own.I've seen some pretty cool changes on them here and like a lot of them.LT |

As a taller rider 6'3" on a X1, I have been tossing around the idea of a bar riser for awhile. Does the 1" make that much difference. I mean I had to do a 6" rise on my sled to make a noticeable difference. Anyone testify to the inch. Or is it better to get taller bars? Least amount of work the better. |

I will have to call my friends shop and ask him what bars i went with as i do not remember what brand they were. The tricky part is finding a good set that does not have the middle bar. It will just block the speedometer and not fit properly. Af226 i am 6' 1' and it really helps not just with reach comfort but it took pressure of my wrists and i was better positioned on the seat so the seat fells so much better on my arse and i wasn't on my nuts as much either. |

Preybird, that's what i want to accomplish...a comfort zone for riding(the wrist issues and the back)with the different-than stock bars(i can ride awhile with the stock setup....but i've seen some nice ones with moto-style bars that really caught my eyes).Got some bars lined up and am hoping to aquire some risers for the"just in case" scenerio.LT |

I have crossroads bars and they gave me comfort issues. I went to the local hardware store picked up 4 1" spacers and 4 new grade 8 bolts it raised it up to the perfect height do not know if this helps |

I have some pics of all the different bars i used if it will help for now......I totally slacked off and forgot to call my friend ans ask about the bars. 1. Clubman bars mounted upsidedown
2. factory bars
3. clip-ons 4. dirtbike bars
difference between factory bars and clubman bars
difference between clip-ons and clubman's

It is hard to see the rise in the picture. But if you look at the ends of the bars you can see the dirtbike bars are straight out and up slightly where the buell ones taper down just a little. I also swapped to gel-grips. |

sorry guys - I'm playing catch up on this topic. I have an '01 X1 and i definitely need to raise the grip position. I also have an '02 S3T and the bars seem like they have the ride that I would like, so I've been looking around for awhile, but other than having the seller know the exact part number, it's difficult to tell if the rise is what I need. I'd like to get 2 or 3 inches higher than the stock X1 bars. Would the risers/spacers create interference with the instrument bezel/cluster? Thanks, s3T |
