From what Ive found, the BFIUSO ecm is for the '99 and the BFIUS1 ecm is '00 to maybe '02. Reason I ask, what would be the outcome of using the BFIUSO in my '00 X1 thanks, jeff (Message edited by jcs64 on December 18, 2011) |

Darn, I was hoping someone would have know about this. Should I just try running it in my bike and see what happens? What bad could come of it? jeff |

I had the '99 ECM and it would not work after tweaking with ECMSpy. Any (even 1 cell) change to the maps would cause the bike not to run at all. I got a BFIUS1 ECM and the bike runs fine with the stock maps as well as the tweaked maps. Not sure what the real differences between the two are, but it will work fine. I would use ECMSpy to compare the maps just for fun first. Jeff |

I have the same issue with my BFIUSO. 1 cell change in ECM spy and the bike wont run. |

different memory configs changing one cell alters the program and "damages the instruction input" |

oldog- That would be something I wouldnt want to find out the hard way (sorry it sounds like lunchbox did). Is this an issue w/ any other Ecm? My bike is a '00 X1 and Im currently running the "race only" ecm. I wanted to Play w/ the BFIUSO ecm first, just incase I screw something up. But, It looks like I may as well just dive right into the "Race" one. If theres any more insight into the differences between the USO/US1, Id love to here it. Thanks, Jeff |

I bought a spare stock ECM off ebay from a bloke that put a carburettor on his x1. Back in the day nobody was able to resolve issues he had with tuning so he ditched the FI. When I noticed the reference to an update to the ECM with the different numbers mentioned above I decided to check mine out. In Australia the stock ECM for 2000 x1 is numbered BFIAU1. The AU being the abbreviation for Australia. All our maps are totally different to the US bikes to conform to noise and air pollution laws here, even our headers are different a size. I wish that I could compare maps to the stock AU figures but these figures are not available so the only answer is to save the old maps and get the thing dino tuned Which is a whole new adventure all by itself. (Roughly it's necessary to deactivate oxygen sensor with ecmspy,do the dino tune ,save ,then reactivate oxygen sensor again or something like that) Costs about $80.00 but well worth the effort. |
