I am building a custom X1. Basically just tweaking things here and there, clip-ons. those types of mods. I hate the tank. I was wondering if there is a smaller skinner option for the x1 and its fuel injection. I realize there are some threads floating around about an s1 tank on the x1 but nothing concrete in whether it can be done or not. I was wondering if there was anything from a different model that fits the x1. I would like to keep injection if possible. I am making a custom seat so the rear mount isn't a big deal. Any input would be appreciated. |

I was able to fit an s3 manta tank with some minor grinder work on my x1, but ultimately went back to the stock tank as the gap between the s3 tank and the x1 seat was aesthetically unacceptable. Since you're doing a custom seat, that issue is easily mitigated and you could likely come out of it with a very, very nice looking setup. I was just digging around to see if I had any pictures, but couldn't find any. Will add some if any turn up. |

Do you have any idea how much smaller the tank is (width only) Do you still have your tank and want to sell it???? |

Found! This is the bigger manta tank, I understand there's a narrower one out there as well, for what it's worth. Hope it helps.

I just ran out to the garage and at the widest point, the wide manta tank is actually a bit (almost 2") wider than the stocker. The narrow one, however, it quite a bit skinnier if memory serves. Sounds like that would be the one you are after, but if you want the wider one, I'm sure we can work something out. |

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I think I will be looking for the skinnier one. Does anyone else have measurements on the smaller tank? |

Unfortunately the skinnier tanks are not set up for the fuel pump so that will probably not work for your use. |

Thanks for the reply. I will have to see what I can come up with. |

I *think* someone has mounted fuel pump and blocked the petcock in an S1 tank for the EFI system. It would be a fair amount of work, but could be done. The narrow tank is only as wide as the frame. Could also switch to carb - might be just as labor intensive, but less custom work. |

After spending some time in the garage tonight I think I might just slide the tank back about 1". If not maybe the narrow s1 tank with modification. I am customizing the tail section and seat so I am sure I can make something flow correctly. Thanks everyone. |

Blackjoe... I may be interested in that tank if Bishop isn't. Pm sent. I was not aware they could be made to fit an X1 and I have wanted to do something different as well. |

You could do what I did with my blast and build a small sub tank for the pump to sit in. Then you can use what ever tank you want to. Matt |

Hm... I always love my huge 5.5 gallon manta tank... but that last one looks really really nice. I love how the front wings have a gull cut separating between the rear of the body. |

That front fender is a ducati 999 fender. After seeing that bike I picked one up for my x1. |

S1owner.. Not a direct bolt on.. some small brackets need to be made. You can see in that pic how he has it done. In my pic its just sittin on the tire not mounted yet. |
