Well guys I think HD is going to hook me up. Between my father and I we've purchased 6 bikes since the summer of 2009 which adds up to about 90k in bikes and thats not including service and accessories!!! the same dealer assisted us for all but one bike. We called customer service told them what was going on and he was johnny on the spot about getting it down to the dealer and seeing if they could cure the problem even though its out of warranty! I will keep you guys posted! Maybe they do have a heart... |

Here's something to lighten the mood.. I went out for a blast tonight. Got to a friends house and she pointed out smoke coming from under the seat. I popped the seat off and sure enough, a mess of meletd wires. The 3 stator outup wires (heavy gauge) had melted and fused together. Fortunately I carry a fairly comprehensive set of tools/spares with me so I managed to repair it (temporarily) and the bike ran fine to get me home with no issues.. What's amusing about that you might ask... Well I was out on my chop tonight not the Buell - turns out the VR has failed and the stator is probably shot too, either that or I've been very lucky but with the 3 wires shorted it's not promising. Could be worse, could've been the Buell LOL |

quote: RM Stator, lower output, CF 605 SB RR. 8600km 14.4 volts no fans, 14.2 volts both fans 3000 plus rpm. Will slowly drop to 12.2 at long idle when hot but comes up to 13.4 volts at 2000 rpm
Fastphil, where did you mount your VR? My VR failed and I'm considering replacing it with either CE605SB or Compufire 54402. Compufire fits the original location, but CE650SB looks bigger, and won't fit. |

I made up a u shaped bracket that fits on the upper and lower oil cooler mounts, with short stator wires. It is on the left side ,under my pod even with the front of the cooler, you can also mount it under the tail. |

Georgehitch17 What have you found out from Custom Rewind???? I have a spare 09 Stator that I want to get rewound and I would like to get the latest information on this prior to sending it in for rewind. |

Well I amanaged to clock up another 600 miles on the 1125R this weekend, had some family stuff to sort out that meant 4 long(ish) trips. Bike performed faultlessly, idled at 13.9V and sustained between 13.7 and 14V on the higher speed sections. I think I've managed about 1200 miles on the custom rewind so far (slow going with 3 bikes in the stable now). My LED indicator (tri-state) kept flickering but the display never waivered so i suspect those fluctuations are too rapid for the display's refresh rate to pick up on. |

@Jules - Custom Rewind is a brand. As I recall you are in Britain. What was the name of your electrical rebuilder? |

West Country Windings... They have a lot of experience in this field.. I've tried to be careful to always put "custom rewind" in lower case to differentiate between the fact that my "custom rewind" id just a description of what happened (i.e. rewound in a custom manner) rather than a product from "Custom rewind". I was lucky that HD paid for mine but I managed to speak directly to Westcountry windings and specify the wire type (grade & thickness) and the stator output I'd like.. It's a little lower than stock and with slightly thicker and zero oxygen copper wire. It also came with a 12 month warranty that i hope never to use :-) |

Away from home right now. 5 feet of snow last week when I left. I will try to post some pics when I get back.I saw the crank oil hole under the rotor several months ago, thats why I was trying to get the engine oiling specs from Rotax.I will try drilling my 09 rotor after Xmas but its 6 months till I hit the road again. |
