It fell off while riding to work, reached down pulled into 2nd and decided to take a few backroads home. Always an adventure! Looks like the shift lever assy is stripped, half the threads are gone. Should I try threading a bolt in there as a temp toepeg? I was thinking about having someone weld a custom toe peg on it(not sure if do-able looks like cast aluminum). Anyone that upgraded to the new style still have the old half moon style lying around? | ||

Yes that will work. I ended up using red lock-tite to keep mine on there. If you slip on a piece of rubber hose before putting on the bolt it will a little less painful on toe and your shoes\boots. | ||

  Here is my temp fix that has been on for years now. Hardware store items. Two threaded hex couplers, one bolt, two washers, and a nylon nut. My threads were stripped so I just put this together. Could/should cover it with a piece of tubing or heavy duty shrink-wrap. I did this for the PO before I bought it from him. He says he liked it better than the original. | ||

Yup, got the same fix on mine!, works great! Whatever you do, don't go to the dealership. Their IPC doesn't show that the toe shifter is threaded so they'll try to sell you a complete assembly. | ||

Thanks for the info, Did it with a bolt and several lock nuts I had. Will work for now need to get a longer bolt in the near future. At least it's rideable again. | ||

Not just rideable, it's a real improvement. The point where the rider inputs instructions to the machine is the wrong place to try and save cost by using mild steel and threading it into magnesium. High strength steel bolt held in place by nuts with hunk of oil line glued to threads is superior engineering. IMHO (In my humble opinion). | ||

Nickel plated 5/16x24 SHCS and red loctite, has worked fine since '05.  | ||

I need to post a picture of my fix. No one can tell I toppled my bike in a failed wheelie unless I point out the little custom bits. Such as the Bolt-With-Fuel-Hose toe peg. | ||

I use a brass screw made for the toilet bowl assy, same thread ,if it breaks will not take the linkage with it, also you get two in the kit. |
