I rode over 150 miles yesterday on my Blast. I was riding with family. There was a Harley Cruiser and a Suzuki Boulevard. They were riding two up. I pulled up the rear. We went up the 15 to 76 (San Diego Area). East on the 76 until we got to Palomar Mountain. We rode to the top until we made the observatory. Then we came off the east side by lake Henshaw. Stopped in Julian and had lunch. Rode back on the 78 through Ramona. I ran out of gas at 145 miles. Hit reserve and zoomed to a gas station in Escondido. The cruisers had more power but in the twisties they slowed me down. My butt hurts. I think I have the Low Seat. I need to order the normal seat and take out the concrete and nails in the seat I have. My seat is concave were the rider sits. (Message edited by HeyZeus on October 10, 2011) | ||

I'm 6'2" 265. I have the tall seat. The trick for me was to take the vinyl off, and insert some memory foam, and then staple the vinyl back on. In total it cost me $50 for the memory foam pillow that I scavenged. | ||

They say later model Blast seats were better than the older ones, but I'll bet they just suck less. Be nice to your butt, and invest in an aftermarket saddle. I loved my Corbin seat. | ||

My 2002 original seat was way too soft ... felt "mushy" and was totally uncomfortable. I bought another 2006 seat on-line for $50 ... three times as firm ... much better ... but doesn't hold a candle to my 2002 Goldwing for long distance comfort.  If I intended to ride the Blast! longer distances I'd get a custom saddle ... look at Sargent ... http://www.sargentcycle.com/ | ||

All good suggestions, but unfortunately all butts arent the same. Some like firm, some like soft. If you can find another Blastard to trade seats with thats the best way to find a better seat. I have 4. Corbin (best), low (which you have), custom low and custom tall, (I sold my firm tall seat years ago and modified the one I had). Not all low and tall seats are alike in softness and firmness either, so it can be difficult when buying another one. If I ever get to go on another sunday ride again you can meet up with a few of us other SoCal Blastards and trade seats. | ||

The seat is too soft and ends up riding up your crack like a thong...not like I know, but I have seen a few... The seats on the Uly is like a church pew, but it is really comfortable on a long ride. Find some other foam, something that does not give and put that in there. | ||

The funny part is my brother in law has the Suzuki Boulavard. I fallowed him the whole way. His bike is 800 lbs and has a big comfy seat. He was hurting as bad or worse then me. I think my butt will get used to this seat. At the end of the ride he asked me why I would buy such a small bike. Then he asked if he could sit on it. I think he was impressed with this little bike shadowing him all day. He lives in a flat and non twisty part of the country. While I live in a twisty hill country kinda place. In the twisties those cruisers were slowing me down. | ||

I was thinking alot about this link today...I rode 140 miles one way to the lake house to pick up a fishfinder I left there...Ice fishing will be here soon....so I rode the Uly over. On the way back I did not stop for gas, just filled up at Silver Point gas station and got a piece of pizza and rode home. The seat on the Uly is a church pew, it is hard, hard as a rock....but very comfortable. Go with hard foam, or not alot of foam.  The waves in Lake Michigan don't look big but they are 6-8 footers, the water is too cold to surf though. | ||

Concur on seats, firmer is better. I've pretty much taken all the foam out of the seat on my "other" bike. Not to cold to surf. Last DECEMBER I met a couple guys on their way to a surf trip in CANADA. Surfing off one of the islands that you had to take a jet ski to get to! Tasty waves are tasty waves, no matter the temperature, apparently....... | ||

I rode over 300 miles this week end. My butt did not hurt as much. I wore different pants so that may have helped. I guess calluses have formed  . I rode many back roads and twisties this week end. I am becoming one with this machine. I fallowed my buddy all weekend Saturday and Sunday. He took me to some fun roads. I really got comfortable leaning my bike to the point that I was dragging boot. I pushed this little beast for all it was worth. I am at 838 miles on the odo. I started this week with 489 miles. I did an oil change yesterday at 660 miles. I used Mobil 1 v-twin formula and a K&N oil filter. Saturday was technical twisties. I spent Sunday on fast mountain roads. Some of the steep roads my bike slows a bit not bad but I could not keep up with a bored out Dyna- glide on the really big inclines. I would catch him on the technical stuff. All though my buddy on the Dyna-glide knows how to ride well. He also rides a Buell X1 tuber. | ||

Hi Magster! Fall still, it is really nice out, unseasonably nice! Unfortunately I have been "working" the last two days with the Little Kid helping him (and Paying for) a wood chipper to help him and his partner in their tree removal business. I have watched and helped him move truckload after truckload of tree trimmings from a job site and I started looking for a chipper. I found a 12 inch chipper this weekend that actually runs great with a 300 Ford straight 6 as a powerplant! All for the whopping price of $500. It looks like a monster but It will clean up nice and work well. Best thing is once it breaks in two pieces and can't be put back together anymore, it goes to the scrap yard and he can probably get $400 for it, so I don't think he is out much. The next couple of days I will be working on it making it a little bit better! I will throw a few pictures with a Blast in front of it when I get the chance, the only problem is today was Daylight Savings Time, so it gets dark about the time I get home. I forgot about it this morning and was freaking out trying to get around to go pick up the monster...LOL. | ||

WARNING WARNING - make sure you exercise due caution when placing the Blast in front of a wood chipper...after that whole cube thing I get freaked out just a little  You're a great Dad Swampy! | ||

So i fixed the sore butt situation. I bought a stock seat normal height. This gave me more room to move and made the bike roomier. I rode the back country to Palomar Mountain. Kinda a scary mountain. I fallowed my friend no his 99 lightning. He has many mods on his. He has grown to respect the Blast. While he can leave me behind, my little bike does a good job of keeping up. I think he is impressed at how well it handles. I do need the fork brace. I also put in a HD Platinum plug part number 32334-05. This plug made a noticeable difference. The bike seems smoother. I was pushing the bike hard and it was misting the air box with oil. I cleaned it twice on the ride. No big deal for I know this is normal. The bike is stock. It did not affect running I just wanted it clean. I did add a little oil. | ||

Rode about 200 miles this weekend. Rode a big loop out to Borrego springs and the back way up to Julian. It was lots of fun. My butt no longer hurts. I love my little blast. So far it does every thing I want it to. |
