Check Out my new ride! Its a 2007 KTM 525 EXC Not a replacement but much more suitable for city use! This thing is a absolute blast. The worst part about it is the bikes love for riding on one wheel!!! Have a nice day everyone PS 17" wheels and sportbike tires coming soon!

A friend of mine who has owned several KTMs has the same issues keeping both wheels on the ground. The way he figures it, he's saving his tires by riding one wheel at a time... |

I've been on the forums some guys are pumping 70rwhp out of these beasts. when it only weighs 250lbs that 70hp becomes flat out ridiculous!! |

I'm a very conservative calm rider, and if I had one of those on the street, I'd loose my license in short order. (Though it would be a fun couple weeks in the meantime!) |

Nice. My "other" bike is a 2000 640 Duke II. I can hardly imagine what kind of license-threatening fun your EXC must offer. Have fun. |

Kenda K761 Dual Sport, got a 21 and an 18 for 110 bucks total. i only use those wheels on the road. I have another set with knobbies on them for the dirt. Quick switchover having the same size wheels, rotor, and calipers already mounted on both rim sets. |

I have a DR-Z400E (plated) and it's a fun little bike to zip around on--loves one wheel. I'd love to put some street-oriented tires on it (it's wearing non-DOT knobbies since it's primary purpose is off-road) but it's mind-boggling that just wheels for a $2000 bike (used value, obviously) can cost half as much as the bike is worth. |

I had the streetish dual sport tires on the KLR-250, and it was amazing how well those things stuck. Heck, even the knobbies would stick really well. Most are really soft compounds. The problem is they kind of "catapiller" and run wide when you are turning hard on asphalt. Not sliding, but the knobs are flexing so it kind of "walks" wide. Plus they howl like a banshee at speed, and they are ruined for dirt in just a few hundred miles of street use. That, and a torn ACL from wrestling a heavier bike on a muddy Kentucky hillside, is what made me give up on a dual sport. Now my street bike is a street bike, and my woods bike is a woods bike (KDX-200). A supermotard would still be a pretty fun run around town bike though... a dirt bike converted to street use (with no intention of doing both). Street bikes make crappy woods bikes, but dirt bikes make pretty fun dirt bikes if you aren't going far. Even the KLR-250 was turning me into a hooligan though... and I'm a pretty calm rider normally. Can't imagine having a supermotard with a *real* motor and riding around town. |
